March & April are over!
Mid way into May!
Left with June, July & half of August!
Times flies… completed 10 weeks of SOT.

24 wks - Precious Moments #4
During one of the Mondays, I prepared a little gift for my teammates and few JAMs friends.
Nothing special, jut a little way to cheer everyone up since Monday is usually the day everyone seem to be “stoning” and engine not fully on.

I read… I do… I read… I do…

BBQ with schoolmates…

Had a great time with teammates & schoolmates…

PA duty
Week 8 @ SOT = Team 8’s turn to serve!
This week been a “not enough sleep” week.
Tues-Fri, I actually jumped up at 430am and left home at 5am plus.
Slept late but woke up super early, one of the days I only slept for ~3hrs BUT really wasn’t sleepy or very tiring during the day/week. Really thank God for His strength!
After breakfast with teammates, we reported in church by 745am.
Different people in the team were assigned to different duties.
For myself and few other teammates, we were assigned at the lobby to “welcome” the people and to tap their card.
Fun experience but can be quite “stress” as sometimes the scanner can be quite insensitive and soon you see a queue gets longer. Haha! But of course as the day goes by, we get more familiar and fast!

The interesting part came when at 844am, our ushers started announcing to the schoolmates at the gate: “2mins! 2mins left!“ and soon you will see them run, really run in.
And the challenge came when the clock hit 845am and a group of students waiting for you to tap their card quickly. According to Pst, late for one or five minutes count.
We may not be the richest team but we are definitely one of the sweetest teams in SOT. Right from the beginning we didn’t want to increase the “standard” that was set by one of the teams. We also didn’t want to stretch ourselves financially to like preparing breakfast for the entire school.

Our plan - to be our schoolmates' messengers!
At the start of the week, the schoolmates can write a little note (to cheer, to encourage etc) to anyone they wish to write to - their team leader, teammates, secret admirer etc. Following week, we will help to pass their little note together with a little gift we prepared.

One of the days after school, few of us (left with only Girls Power again) went to JP to get the items.
From ValueShop to Popular to NTUC-xtra… From Lane1 to Lane5 Lane10… We spent quite a while to select, to brain-storming, to decide and then to buy. We then went to one of the hostel to start the “factory work”! Haha!
All in all, with the power of 5, we managed to do up ~100 goodies bag! Thank God!
Been a looooong week but thank God His strength! =)
Enjoyed myself during this journey too!

When others have one slice of cake… she has one whole cake!
When others have one celebration… she has two!
When others have mini celebration… she has a “grand” one!
When others’ gift budget is $xx… hers is $yy!
Who? Why? Why that special privilege?
Of course! She is none other than … our team leader!
Being a team leader, her responsibilities are slightly more than us.
Everyday after SOT, she got to rush off to work.
I really salute her… for all her than the sacrifices she made for us!

Fun moments in class:
In this case, we were not booking seats… =p
The biscuits were specially prepared by one of the teammates…

Eat (opps!), Sleep, Read…

DnD! Serious discussion...

Photos time…

no new news
News spread fast, very fast, very very fast.
Not sure does it matter who you share with, just know that news spread very fast.
In few weeks time, we will be having “Mock CG” at SOT. Each of us will be assigned to 3-4 segments. Mine are Warmth, Welcome, Praise & Worship. I was still pretty calm when I saw “Warmth” & “Welcome“ but went wooooo when I saw “Praise” and “Worship”. Haha!
Though was shocked but was quite looking forward as this are segments which rarely can get to try. Of course preaching too but I’ll still get the chance to during Preaching Test.
Probably singing has never been my strength/interest… ps: people, I know that so you don’t have to constantly remind me.
Strangely I’m willing to step into KTV and sing when I’m with my cousin but not with this certain group of friends. I’m willing to sing aloud in LSK too, but not with this certain group of friends. Why? Maybe I can be more of myself when with them and one thing for sure - I know they won’t make a joke out of me.
Some of my teammates got what they are good/comfortable with but there are also some like me who will be having their “First” experience. Anyway is “Mock CG” - though there are evaluators but no one is there to condemn or find fault with us. We are all there to learn.
Wanted it to be “low-profile” (esp to this certain group of friends). My first intention was only to blog after “Mock CG”.
I casually told this particular friend the segments I’m doing then this particular friend also casually told another friend but seem like this particular friend deliberately went around telling the “whole world”.
Some of the “whole world” just listened and let it passed but some of the “whole world” chose to rub on the wound - asked me whether I want to take praise/worship segment to practice first during some event, passed me the mic when they see me in church or even suan-ing me whenever possible.
With friends like them, I don't need enemies.
From excited about "Mock CG" to now - dread from happening.
In just one day or I should say, in just a few hours my excitement and confidence were destroyed, all thanks to a group of very “encouraging” friends! I am not angry, just upset and disappointed... why must friends, my very own friends rub on the wound that yet to heal?
If you guys didn't mean it or want it to be a "joke", sorry.. is not funny to me at all.
I supposed this wont end yet. Let's see... after I’m done with the “Mock CG”, I should be able to expect those “encouraging” friends will ask me to lead Praise & Worship during cg etc? Just when you think they are being supportive and want you to put into use what you learned but sad to say, too late… I wont be able to feel their sincerity. And all thanks to them, my about-to-close-up wound is once again opened up!

24 wks - Precious Moments #2
Few weeks back, I visited ICA like 3 times with foreign teammates to settle their Student Pass.
Though “Student Pass” and “Visa” sound so unfamiliar to me, at first was asked to go by Team Leader, whether can I company this teammate who cant speak English. The next two visits were just to company teammates.

It was an "interesting, eye-opener" experience! There were moments where the officers got me -_- and there were moments I witness "inconsistency"! Opps! Haha! Still, thank God I was able to be of help not just to my own teammates but once to another schoolmate, K.
She had some problem with her Visa due to error on her Student Pass. Then she needed a Singaporean. And since she came alone, I actually accompanied her for the an interview with a Senior Officer.
It was so amazing - we met a Christian officer @ the Visa-counter who after knowing this schoolmate attends bible school, he said “Hallelujah school!”. And usually extension of Visa is like ~two weeks, he actually gave her 1mth!
Could see that she was worried/discouraged (as her Student Pass made her went through "difficult" times too) that but thank God I was able to be there to encourage/cheer her on. Thank God everything worked out well. If not she actually has to return back to her country/nearby country the night itself.
Once after SOT, there was a long break to churchwide biblestudy in the night so I went over to foreign teammates’ hostel.
I was overwhelmed by their great hospitality and love! Not just my own teammates but also the housemates who were there! They really treated me like “guest”!
I guess they also had a mission that day - “feed Yanni!” cause the moment I entered their hostel, they kept feeding me with food, fruit & drinks! I actually went went eating from house to house!

One "lesson" learned after the visit - to be contented with what I have. Their living condition may not be that fantastic but it never affect them. They are still a group of happy people who make the best out of what they have.

Check out this photo below…
There was this housemate who was sitting in front of the stove - while waiting for the food to be cook, she was actually reading bible! I am challenged! Haha!

A little recap of my precious moments in SOT…
During the first 1-2 weeks, got the chance to take breakfast with Huili & Itzel during the 30mins-break. I really, really salute them cause they are not just fast but they are super duper very fast.
When I was on my way up the stairs @ B4, they were already @ the church gate! When I was digging for my purse, Huili called to ask me what I want! When I reached coffeeshop, they already comfortably settled down! Haha!

When others were queuing for their food, mine was on the table!
When others were getting ready to eat, I was heading back church!
Haha! All these wouldn’t be possible without the two super-fast girls!

Enjoyed the fellowship with them. Had fun time conquering wanton mee in 7mins and conquering the "fear" of opening the cans etc. Haha!

Later week, I didn't have the chance to join them as own teammates wanted to have breakfast together. Since there, been having with them @ coffeeshop or rooftop.
Great to fellowship with teammates too - bonding time!
I used to reach school around 815am but for the past many weeks, I reached church slightly before 8am. Few reasons are (1) to avoid the morning train crowd, (2) to “watch over” seats for team and (3) to start the class "calmly" - enjoyed the moments of "stoning" before class starts.
Thankfully so far our team has been very "on", always at the centre area. The "most-front" we went was 2nd row. One of my teammates' goal is to sit at FIRST row before she graduates! Haha!

Tough. Final.
After some consideration, I have decided not to take up the childcare part-time job.
Still, I want to thank God for favor and everything:
1) not only did He opened one but two doors of opportunity for me
2) favor I found in both childcare’s principal
3) after I informed the Principal @ 2nd childcare that I wont be able to continue to work, she actually tried to keep me by offering few options
The reason I decided not to work is not so much on physical capacity that I’m afraid I be too tired/busy or anything. Seriously before SOT starts, I actually wanted very much to work cause I want to take this period to stretch myself and to see how much can I take.
Actually to work 4hrs everyday is still consider quite ok to me. And basically nothing much expected from me, I just assist the teachers and play with the children.
After working for two days, I decided not to continue. Not used to it? Don’t like the rushing part - from school to childcare?
Hmm… don’t know how to explain
Is definitely a tough decision cause no work = no $$$
I managed to discuss something with my parents and arranged something out with my insurance agent too. So for now to the end of SOT, I will be really “jobless”.
Will be giving full focus to SOT and just a thought - maybe can also take this period as a break from work and teaching?
But this will also mean a period of time I must learn to be wise and to think twice in spending $$, to and yes… save, save, save!
The day after I went back to the childcare to sign the “resignation” letter, I was quite worried how everything would be like for the next 5mths. For a moment I was scare. Just when I was like you know you know, I saw a letter on my table - it was from the government, regarding the $$ we will be receiving.
I was surprised cause I actually forget about it! I was overwhelmed!
Coincidence? I think too much?
That night of QT, I wept - I’m so thankful that God showed up again, to remind me not to doubt or worry and that He will provide for me… just like how He did even before my SOT starts. =)

Finally
(late entry)
Wanted to many years ago… but didn’t know how and where
Two years ago… found the source, went for consultation, fixed an appointment… but didn’t have the “courage” to go for it
Two years later… went for consultation, fixed an appointment, seek advices… went for it
The whole process took less than 2hrs… probably the “longest” time I spent on was waiting for my turn to enter, to be brief and to pay. The whole surgery only took less than 15mins!
I’m thankful to God for giving me a good doctor who… not only gave me good advices before the surgery, skillful hands during and peace of mind and after the surgery.
I’m thankful to God for giving the Dr a team of dedicated team of nurse who… treated me well, patiently explained to me and took effort to calm me when I seem nervous at the first jab.
I’m thankful to God that the surgery went well, and most importantly I didn’t experience any post-surgery pain when the anesthesia wears off.
I’m thankful to God that the whole healing process went well.
I’m thankful to God that the process of removing stitches wasn’t that scary after all.
I’m thankful that so far everything is ok!
Not forgetting - thank you Da Jie, Er Jie, Zhen Jie & Da Jie Da for the advices & concerns before/after surgery.

Early. On time. Late.
Punctual
- strictly observant of an appointed or regular time; not late; prompt
Punctuality
- the quality or state of being punctual
Let's not talk about church meetings or any important events. Just casual meet with friends/family. What time will you reach if the meeting time is 6pm?
545pm? 559pm? 601pm? 615pm? 630pm? 7pm? 715pm?
Few weeks back I met up with friends. Though I was not the "host" for the night but was bit disappointed with the time they turned up.
6pm was the meeting time.
I reached at 550plus and having a feeling that not many will be on time, I decided not to wait at the station but proceed to the shopping mall (a way to prevent myself from #%*@$)
Shortly after, I bumped into the organizer (the only person who is punctual). Next she told me "the rest of them will be late". At the point of time I thought to myself "I know it! I know it! I shouldn't have come on time!" I was so #&$*@ that I asked the organizer "why didn't push back the meeting time since all going to be late?!" But organizer replied "they informed last minute!"
Hmmm.. in that case, can I say their reason for being late is not valid?
* speechless *
Then and then, sorry ... I shut down!
Together with the organizer, we went to the makan place and there we waited and waited and waited. Around 615pm, the "host" for the night came. Again we waited and waited and waited, another came. Then we waited and waited and waited, another came (flipped to know late cause went shopping).
Dinner started. Just when you thought that's all ... two happy people strolled in stylo-miloly after 7pm with one greeted us and another just a "sorry!" Seriously for the last two, I need to learn to "get used to it" cause out of 3x, they are late 2x. Arrrgghhhhh!
(have an evil thought: on the day that I am the "host", can the two don't come if they going to be late again?)
I am not always punctual... but I am not always late too.
I know I'm bad to shut down just like that but I was really too disappointed (bit angry of course) cause it is not the first time already!
Probably common reason for many being late is they wanted to catch some rest at home first or maybe overslept?
They are tired, I'm not?
Just before I was out, I only managed to catch a 15mins-sleep then though was sleepy and long to sleep more, I forced myself up with the thought that "Cannot sleep already! Got to meet them later!" And thinking that to give the "host" face, I shouldn't be late.
Maybe to you, it seem like I am making a mountain out of a molehill but.. but.. just think about it - like others, you are also tired but you "sacrificed" your rest and came on time then realized others rested fully and came late. And after you waited and waited and waited for them, they just came with a "sorry" or even giving you a feeling that 'is ok for me/us to be late. is ok for you guys to wait for me/us."
To me, is more like you are not respecting my time.
Is it so difficult to be early? Or even just being on time?
Or you being early/late is determine by who you are meeting?
It takes effort to be punctual. To me, it can be a choice too.

Closed. Opened.
Though many windows were closed but I thank God He opened doors for me!
Started “searching” for part-time job ~two weeks ago. Called and rejected by many, till I’m quite disappointed. Just when I wanted to give up, God showed up!
Like what Z Laoshi said, “Wait for His timing! He will give you the best! Believe!” This sentence came alive to me!
I went for an interview @ SP childcare which is located at Fajar. The interview went for like half an hour and IMMEDIATELY the Principal agreed to employ me. And then she brought me around and introduced me to her staff. She is also comfortable about me working for 6mths but of course encouraged me that if everything goes well, to continue. Thank God for the favor!
Just when I thought everything settled nicely, I had the chance to go for another interview @ another childcare. Thought no harm going and may can have another option. After a rather short time of interviewing, least did I expected - Principal said “Ok! We will take you on!”
I was shocked, real shocked as I was waiting for something like “Ok! We will look into your details and call you again!” cause when I told her I can only commit 6mths, her face changed so I thought chances not high.
It took me a while to decide between these two but I thank God good counsels from Da Jie and Da Da Jie ... and of course the peace of God!
It will be “luxury” if I don’t have to work during SOT-days but sad to say, I cant. Haha!
Nevertheless, thank God for His favor and opportunities! =)

24 wks - I am a student!
Three weeks into SOT. Still “so far so good”… probably cause yet to have assignments/exam. But personal engine more or less on already, adjusted to the momentum of a student’s life.
Just recently I had long waiting time before visitation. If it was last time, I probably will go for movie or maybe even arcade to kill time but… but… I didn’t this time. I went to the library! I myself cant believe it too! Haha! And whenever possible, I will be reading a book in the train too - haha… so not me!

So far @ SOT, we completed FT2 and in the midst of covering “Song of Solomon” by Pst Kong and "Going on to Perfection" Though completed these three books yearsss ago at personal/church bs but the receiving and impartation are definitely much different now. Everyday been like “information overloaded”
Woohoo! I enjoyed Pst Bobby’s teaching! He preached with enthusiasms and FIRE!

How? Where? When?
“out yes, in no”
Haha! $$$ I mean…
Called quite a few childcare @ Jurong/Bukit Batok… hoping to get a part-time job. Actually majority of them sound positive, thank God for “bonus points” as I have experience and DPT cert.
But… But… But the moment they know that I’m still a staff at another kindergarten, they turned silent. Till today, I have yet to receive a confirmed call though I received one for full-time and one interview.
@ the interview - though I can only commit for 6mths but the Principal sound keen to employ (partly also cause they really needed staff). She was even willing to give me more pay than what I asked for. She got photocopies of my cert, shared with me a lot etc. She said cause I can only commit t 6mths and that I’m still a staff at another kindergarten, she need to talk to the management.
One week passed, no call.
Actually one of my friends told me that I actually shouldn’t have let them know I am still a staff at another kindergarten. Later I thought to myself, “Really?! Shouldn’t I?”
I don’t know, really don’t know. Cause they asked indirectly so I told them. Also need to fill up past employment details so don’t want to lie. Beside, since I need to be “registered” under MCYS if I got in, is better to say the truth just in case they found my name under MOE.
Quite disappointed actually, with the findings etc.
Seriously there were many thoughts that went through my mind as I sat through the interview:
“See la! See la! Why are you going through this again?”
“Aiyo! You don’t have to actually!”
“Haiz! Totally don’t like the feeling to start “afresh”?”
Got to keep searching… Got to keep asking… Got to keep calling…
Don’t want and cannot spend my 6mths being "jobless'.
But one thing that I am shocked myself too...
As I have no income thus I am actually living on my savings right.
Though not a lot but thankfully I am doing fine.
Thank God for self-control… Haha!
Whenever I got my pay, most of the time the amount will decrease pretty fast. Oops!
But this time I’m proud to say that a particular amount in my bank being “stagnant” for couple of weeks. Of course for now, other than for meals, got to be wise, very wise in where and how I spend my $$.

24 wks - Sacrifice
Just when I thought I got to "sacrifice" quite a lot to go SOT, I was “hit” when I heard the testimonies and/or stories of my team-mates, especially those foreign students.
I always admire people who study overseas - how they have to leave their family/friends, their comfort zone and their familiar environment.
On the day of orientation, it was TeamMate ML’s mother’s birthday so as a team, we sang her a birthday song over the phone. As I listened to TeamMate ML cried as she talked to her mum (definitely home sick), it reminded me to appreciate that I am in my "comfort zone".

TeamMate SM…
He has the strong desire and determination to attend SOT but don’t have the $means to but with the support from his church and his savings, he fulfilled his dream this year.
We had a buffet spree on orientation day where he commented that was his best meal so far he was here for 3wks. That statement for a second almost brought tears to my eyes.
I’m challenged by his servant hood and brotherhood - his attitude and his willingness to serve/learn. He always avail himself to serve @ SOT classes and even church event etc.
Hardworking (foreign) students…

SOT - a place where I don’t only get impacted spiritually

S.T.A.R.T
7 Mar 2011 - SOT orientation

Reached there rather early, thank God was with Efi if not will be "lost" after the registration. Haha!
The day started with a great Word by Pst Tan which ended with him saying a powerful prayer for us. It definitely got us all charged up!

After which we had a time of briefing with the Dean of Students, Pst Bobby where the "Rules & Regulation" etc were set. After which we went separate way to meet up our team.
There are quite a number of foreign students in the team that I’m in. There are also people from Dialect Church, Children Church and BBG. Like what the pastors said, we will be “sticking” with one another for the next 6mths.
As for the outdoor activities…
One word - HOT!
Two words - super HOT!
Three words - really cannot tahan!
Haha! But the games at the different stations where our strength, mind, stamina & creativity were tested definitely a time of team building and team bonding.
The day ended with a yummy welcome lunch from SOT.

8 to 11 Mar 2011 - first week of official lesson
One session I love to the max - WORSHIP time!
There were days we spent 1hr plus in God's presence and I remembered one of the days we spent close to 2hrs in His presence and still it was like "Not enough!"
There were days when Pst Derek moved freely, so freely in the Holy Spirit - there were tremendous peace, joy & freedom!
Got to constantly remind myself - learn to be STILL in His presence, learn to WAIT on Him and most importantly, never to take His presence for granted.
24weeks in SOT ... 1wk down ... 23weeks more to go! =)

NEXT week!
From “Oh! SOT starts in March!” to “Oh! SOT starts next month!” to “Oh! SOT starts in two weeks time!” to now “Oh!!! SOT starts NEXT WEEK!!!”
For once I thought to myself - “Oh man! Cant imagine I am actually going SOT! Cant imagine I actually made the decision to stop work for half a year!
My 6mths journey in SOT will start next Mon.
Excited? Ok ah…
Nervous? Ok ah…
All ready? Ok ah…
Afraid? Ok ah…
It been a while since I was a student…
It been a while since I did readings…
It been a while since I did “homework”…
For the next 6mths, a student me will have to complete assignments (eg. 10 books review) and to finish reading (with understanding) the entire bible! Got to be ready not just physically, mentally but also spiritually!
Hmm.. recently heard some -_- remarks from friends:
“Hey! You SOT student lehz! Must come early to book seats for us!”
“Hey! Ask Yanni to do… She SOT already… Must do more!”
“Hey! You SOT student lehz! Of course must serve more & do more!”
Like hello.. SOT student not human?
Seem like “expectation” was set even before SOT starts, especially from my LSK Principal and some colleagues. Oops! Hmmm… can I take back my registration form? Haha!
Unofficially “graduated” myself 3yrs ago… =p

I'm blessed!
Weeks passed very fast… the day I have to say “Goodbye!” to LSK.
Think about it.. Half a year = 6mths = 24 weeks
If you say is long, is not that long but if you say is short, is not that short either. Though just 6mths but I be away from my “comfort zone“.
ps: a little “pressure” added on me as “expectation” was set during the 6mths and when I return… haha!
I’m thankful for a group of very loving and encouraging Principal and colleagues who supported me in many ways.
28 Feb - Principal Mrs E Tan announced to the children about my move to God’s school. She led the children in a time of powerful prayer.
My touching moments…
As I stood infront, Little Child N walked over and stood beside me. Then Little Child K and Little Child J came too. They are the children from PreNursery - Little Child K and Little Child J are the one who usually I paid more attention to cause in term of emotion, they are still “adjusting“. And Little Child N is the one who “stick” with me since Day1. Haha!
The best came when after the prayer, Z Laoshi told me that she was touched too as when Principal Mrs E Tan led the children in prayer, Little Child N stretched out his hand to me for the entire prayer. I mean… he is only 3years old!
At the end of both sessions, I had ’final goodbye” to the children and they came to give me a hug. That’s the best present!
ps: even when I’m blogging now, I am missing them! Hee!
Received gifts…
from one of my last year K2’s parents…

from my colleagues…

Few days ago, my mentor told me about one of my strengths that she observed throughout last year and even this year’s short two months.
She said that I work differently from other LSK teachers… I don’t scold the children… And the way I establish relationship with them is like friend-to-friend and yet the children don’t “climb over my head”. =)
On my first “away day” from LSK, I received smses from my colleagues. And even from my principal too! =)
Still a bit not used to it ... these two days been looking at the clock and find myself "guessing" what the children/colleagues are doing.
"Oh! Is 745am already.. they must be having their morning worship!"
"Oh! Is 830am.. the first session children arrived!"
"Oh! Is 1145am.. the second session started!"
"Oh! Is Wednesday, they must be having their staff meeting now!"
