Mixed

Was told beforehand that Term4 will pass very quickly as will be busy due to concert, term-end agendas etc.

Entering into end of Week7, I must say “Term4 is really busy! Term4 really go fast, very fast!“

Mixed feelings…
On one hand cant wait for Term4 to come to an end as to clear off the many loadsssssss but on the other hand cant bear to see Term4 end.
On one hand eager to go through the actual concert but on the other hand enjoying the moments of rehearsing etc now.

Perfect Seven

Stayed back late everyday this week.
… marked pile of worksheets, sorted the worksheet,
settled $$
... checked/settled children's certificate
… wrapped 100 presents (to be given after concert) with colleagues
... last preparation/check before concert

Straight after wrapping on Wed, went down to hospital to visit one of my JAMs students’ mum who got hit by a cab. Though fractured knee but no other serious injuries… really thank God for His protection and preserving her life!

Looking forward to the weekend before returning back to LSK again...

whew whew..

We had full-dress rehearsal today.
At the end of two sessions, more than “Tired ah~~” is actually “Whew whew ah~~~”

Strangely but truly - always @ concert like this, the anxious group of people are usually not the performers - the children (who are usually very calm) but the teachers! Opps!

Though children’s concert is not new to me but this time in LSK, there is actually a certain level of “stress” as there are many things to take charge, look into and remember!

Before Concert
- got to check the costumes, accessories, graduation gown/mortar
- got to dress them up/do up their hair
- got to make sure the children come in right shoes/socks

During Concert (the MOST “stressful”)
Being the graduating class, K2s are involved in many items thus as the form teacher, got to ensure everything/everyone ok!

What item now? What is the item next?
Queue for graduation ceremony, queue for graduation items, queue for ItemA, queue for ItemB etc.

This time K2 teachers got to be ON THE STAGE during certain items thus got to learn the actions of the song, positioning etc.
Must I go out for this? Where do I stand for that? -_-

Then children for ItemA come out from which door, ItemB come out from which side of the stage, ItemC come out who queue where, ItemD walk from where etc.

And come the dance item, there are many entrances/exits for different groups with different props (flag, scarf, angel’s wings, ward and stick).

Counting down to the two days of concert - one for morning session and another afternoon! This is still my first time being in a kindergarten with two days of concert. Now you know how big LSK is…

Concert is a time to showcase children’s talents, to make their parents/teachers proud and to glorify His Name!

Pray! Pray! Pray!

This week my morning prayer partner is the PRINCIPAL!!!

Day 1 - she prayed for me … simple but ANOINTED
Day 2 - she asked me to pray for her!!! Haha!
Day 3 - she was not around in the morning
Day 4 - she asked me to give thanks while she “amen” … she then ended with a prayer

Like many other colleagues, we “tremble” when our prayer partner is the principal! Haha! But still thank God for the opportunity to be upclose in prayer with my leader and a woman of God. =)

Super Six

Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!
The school term is coming to an end!
Getting busy and busy as the days and weeks goes by.

Top on the list this Week6:
#1: Liaise with tailor and JP aunty to finalize costumes
#2: Collection of costumes from tailor's house and JP
#3: Preparation to concert (props, wrap gift, tickets etc)

#4: Collection of $$$ for costume
#5: Type visitation report
#6: Clear outstanding worksheet/activity sheet
#7: Mark/Compile activity sheet & worksheet
etc etc etc etc

Like one of my FB status, “the beginning of many stay-back dayssss”
Other than Wed where I left shortly after meeting @ 5plus, the rest of the days I stayed back in school till 6pm and latest 6plus.

Probably to some people, end work @ 6plus is “early” but in the field of kindergarten, 6plus is hmm hmm.. or more for Miss Lim who used to end work on the dot @ 5pm, one year was @ 1pm and another was @ 4pm?

Actually in LSK the teachers’ official release-time is at 330pm but I guess not just myself, many of the teachers seldom get to go back at the “official time”.

Still at the end of the school week, I really thank God for His strength!

Drama-Rama

WARNING! Going to be a long entry!
Just want to keep this LSK journey as a memory.

During my time with the last kindergartens, the children's concert costume were settled by the school. This time in LSK, the responsibility falls on the teachers. But as this is my first year, I received help from the various ones.

It all started @ AMK as our 1st stop!
Went with Mrs ML, Mrs MO and principal.
We found nice designs (at least what we wanted) @ one of the carts. But there were not enough stock + the lady boss not cooperative = an unsuccessful deal.

2nd stop @ Chinatown!
This time ALL level’s teachers went. It was a fruitful trip for all levels except K2. As K2 are the graduating class thus gown for girls and smart-looking attire for the boys.

The search continued…

3rd stop @ Tampines!
This time went only with Mrs ML, my level head cum another K2 form teacher. We saw many good designs but the price quite ex. We only took photos to standby if we need to design for the girls.

4th stop @ JP!
On her own shopping time, Mrs MO came across DD shop which sell many dresses etc. This time activated Mrs ML, Mrs MO, Mrs GC (K1 teacher who happened to be our "driver" that day.. thank God for her) and principal. We saw many designs but due to sizes, only Mrs M’s class costumes chosen.

5th stop @ City Square!
Despite the lateness & tiredness, we went there IMMEDIATELY after JP as beforehand Mrs MO also managed to find some @ ABC shop. But due to the price and limited sizes, we also didn’t managed to get a deal.

~Few days later, we were told there were new stock @ JP thus we headed back and this time we managed to settle my class’ costumes! Praise the Lord!
After trying out the sizes on the children, we made our orders. And as there were few “special sizes”, we even talked to the big boss @ HK.

Then series of “drama” started…

At the first collection where I went with Mrs MO and principal, most of my costumes were collected except for two white size8. We made arrangement and were told to collect a week after.

Soon after we received the call, I went down alone during the weekend. But instead of giving two white size8, she gave me two size10 and claimed that size8 and realized HK side made a mistake as big boss went holiday. And for Mrs ML’s class, instead of giving pink size8 and size12, she only gave size10.
* flipped *

Immediately she called her big boss over @ HK and made the necessary order again.
Made known: we want “four white size8” and “one pink size8 and pink size12”.

A week after, I headed back in the evening after I received a call in the morning that our costumes arrived. Just when I thought it will be my last time going there, I was wrong!
Instead of four white size8, she gave me three size6 and only one pink size12.
* flipped flipped *
Spoke to the HK big boss again... though really appreciate their effort and cooperativeness but can be quite irritating as there’s more than one mistake and also we are also running a tight schedule.

But just before I left, another call was made to the HK boss who promised me that she will send her staff to look around for the material and if there is, she will rush work and make four size8 for us. But if can't find the material then she will not be able to = I got to take whatever she sent.

As time is running out so we can’t afford to wait for HK side as we also don’t know what "pattern" they will give again.

So with whatever we have, we decided to do altering. We even got the tailor to take the necessary measurement on the children who are affected. On one hand I was liaising with the tailor but I also never stop calling JP shop.

Just today, I received a call from DD shop and immediately, w/o much thinking, I headed down to JP. Though late & tired but know just got to go as on one hand cant wait to get this “burden” off my shoulder and also cause the children need for full-dress rehearsal soon.

* fingers crossed … prayed along the way *
FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY all my four size8 delivered CORRECTLY!

Thank God that eventually ALL work out well!
Tired? Yes!
Burdensome? Definitely!
Busy? Of course!
No doubt been busy and having lots of “headache” but definitely enjoyed the process!

But like what Principal Mrs E Tan said - "Is not about the destination, is about the journey! Through this costume-searching/settling, we see God's hands at work!"

And bonus = gained an experience… received favor… friendship strengthen…

=)

Got this from one of the K1 girls…
I was shocked that I kept asking her “Really for me? Or is it for your teacher?” And with great conviction, she replied “Yes! For you!”

The next day, she passed me another red flower + a drawing full of flowers! ps: took photo too late…
My colleagues who saw, "Wow! Why you everyday also have flower?!"

Few days later, I received another drawing from another of her classmate...

Mid-Term!!!

One word to describe Term4 so far = Busy
Two words to describe Term4 so far = Very Busy
Three words to describe Term4 so far = Really Very Busy
More than three words to describe Term4 so far = Busy Busy Busy Busy Busy Busy Busy =p

TGIF!
Week 5...
Top agenda of ALL levels now: Concert … happening in 3weeks time!
Other agenda that came:
#1 - to gather T4 newsletter photos
#2 - to liaise with tailor & JP aunty
#3 - to settle shoes & socks for the children
#4 - clear outstanding worksheet
#5 - repair work for last term resources

On Wed, we had our concert 1hr run-through for both sessions. At the end of the day, my battery only left 40%. Haha! It can be pretty tiring as it was the FIRST time we tried out the whole thing on stage thus there were much directing, signaling, talking, “nagging”, repeating instructionsss, walking here and there etc etc.

We also had our first combined rehearsal today where all levels of children gathered to rehearse from the start to the end of the concert, the different dances etc etc.

But one thing for sure… thumbs up for the children!

From Graduation Ceremony to Graduation Item to Grand Entrance to Dance Item to Grand Finale (2 songs) to Special Item (1 song) … the children gave and did their best
.

Seriously don’t talk about the children, teacher like myself also find it challenging to memorize all the dance steps, the dance actions and of course the many formationsss.

Really soooooo proud of my angels! =)

Fun Learning Weekend

late post…

I was given the privilege to lead games two weeks ago @ Rayz Fun Learning Weekend. Supposed to lead with Teacher MT or Teacher MT but due to some last minute matters, I was to do alone. Wooooo… thank you Teacher SS for believing in me!

Is not my first time doing games… Is not my first time doing big day games… but this is definitely my first time doing “big day” ALONE!
Probably there were 20% of stress that caused by having to crack games ideas that need to have learning elements.
But generally no stress cause of the help/support offered by Teacher SS and Teacher RL. Thank God for them!

Most of the preparation work was done by Teacher RL, Teacher AL and Teacher LL. The only "preparation" I did was going round and round Daiso xx times to search for props etc! Haha!
Even on the actual day, just hours before service, I also received helped from TG, TC and TA with the tables and pasting etc.

Personally for me, the challenging part is not so much on the hosting but rather the “beginning” - coming out with ideas. Trust me… this time I really cracked my head. Hee!

Game #1 was Teacher SS’ idea - simple but fun! And the colours of the wordings added on to it as well.

Game #2 was "I spy" - here and there of this and that. After which, I felt that Game #2 could have be done better.

At the end of the day, I received good feedback from various ones. Really thank God!

Week 3 and Week 4

Time fliesssssssssssssssss!!!
In the blinking of the eyes, is already the end of Week 4.

Actually planned to stay back in school for few days during Wk3 last week to do markingsss and to finish off some outstanding matter but in the end “excused myself” to be around @ a friend’s dad’s wake. Though cant/didn’t help much but just wanted to “be there”.
It was also a short week due to Children’s Day Celebration and holiday.

This week, Wk4... almost everyday we tried to squeeze time off our busy timetable to practice our dance. One thing I must say is that though is only 3hrs in LSK but not a moment the children are being shortchanged, esp during this busy "practicing period".
As much as the teachers want to practice dance, the teachers ensure ALL curriculum that are supposed to cover are being covered, not forgetting worksheet done first.

But I must really say the children are really flexible, cool and steady!
Many times, they need to be on the ball to listen and move fast to teachers’ instruction. Haha! Especially on Friday where is our “casual day aka no-lesson day”, their time in school can be real packed.
The children may have to move from one classroom to another, from level one to level two or even "doing two things at a session" and then to switch from play-mode to study-mode. Haha!

Another agenda that got to squeeze time to do this week - costume fitting for boys and girls. Sound simple but must be careful cause if over/under-sized then you know you know. Haha!
And also got to remember to call and follow-up with Tailor Aunty and Shop Aunty for arrival/collection of costumes etc.

Been a busy and tiring day TODAY but I’m loving it! =)

For both sessions - IMMEDIATELY (time is very precious on Fri… ha!) after “Show Time” by the Children Church’s pastor, we moved straight to class where the children had their snack. And for those who are done, they were with me selecting books to borrow home (one of our reading projects to cultivate reading habit).

Immediately half of the class went for computer makeup lesson and another half went up to practice dance. Miss Lim don’t even have time to sit down to “enjoy” her breakfast but grabbed two mini cake and quickly swallowed it.

It went on for a solid 50 mins "dancing" before we swapped the both groups.

Half an hour before dismissal, we were back in classroom with full class of children. Very quickly we gave out letters/reader of the week then Z Laoshi took over to explain her Chinese homework before she conducted a short lesson. And soon “Goodbye to teachers, Goodbye to my friends!”

Immediately after dismissal, we rolled up our sleeves and started pushing things here and there (the “routine” every Friday). Not only that, we got to do set-up for tomorrow orientation day and again got to paste here and there, to carry there and here etc etc.

Once done, can’t rest yet… with the help of Mrs G Chan, I got to “wrap” up the girls’ costume to prevent it from getting dirty etc. Did a final packed up to the classroom.
Did a quick washed up then was off to tailor’s house with Mrs ML to settle the buttons for boys’ costume.

It was already 6plus by the time I stepped out of the school. After a sleep tonight, tomorrow is back in school again for orientation (pretty looking forward to it) and then two visitations with Z Laoshi.

“the JOY of my LORD is my STRENGTH!”

Surprise!

Together with another 4 colleagues, we each received $200 Popular vouchers and will be receiving a certificate of appreciation from MOE for the recent participation of “Peer Sharing”.

Totally a surprise cause really didn’t expect any “reward” from the school, not to mention from MOE. Personally to me, I see it as a privilege cause though I am only 9mths old @ LSK but I was given the opportunity to be part of it.

??? + !!!!

????
Faced a “decision making” few weeks ago (earlier than expected).

As always, both Choice A and Choice B has its advantages and disadvantages so struggled BIG time to decide.
If I have to choose few months ago, it would definitely be easier but at this point of time, is tough, real tough.

After sharing with couple of friends and “thinking through“, I decided to go with Choice A. It took me great courage to inform XXX who later offered me Choice C. After which it got me “shaken” again - hold on to Choice A and forgo Choice C or take rather take Choice B then taking Choice C?

Supposed to let XXX know whether I take up Choice C or stick to my Choice A but just today don’t know why, I have a thought “why not forgo Choice A and Choice C and take Choice B instead?” Haiz!

As much as I want take up Choice B, I want to make sure I wont regret as the moment I make known Choice B, NO turning back!
If take up Choice B… Will I be able to take it? Will I be able to endure again? Will I be able to juggle again?

But on the other hand, I cant bear to forgo Choice B and stick to Choice A. Haiz Haiz!
Should I give Choice B another try?

!!!!
Recently @ one of morning worship session, I came to the mind of one of my colleagues who prayed and asked God for a vision me. She later shared with me that she saw a picture of a dove flying everywhere HAPPILY and the dove is actually me.

Later she explained to me that “I am currently in a time of seeking for direction. Even so I am not worried, happily going on with my life (happy dove flying around) and believed that God will show”. Wow! A timing one! Indeed I need to trust His leading!

So now Choice A, Choice B or Choice C?
Up to now, I still don’t have a final choice. -_-
