with them

… A Night with Lim Clan
Though we met up during CNY but it been half a year since our last get-together. Just the 5 of us over dinner + dessert … awesome!

We simply talked about everything and anything under the sun!
From our childhood days to our work to our fellow cousin to our fellow elders etc etc. Looking forward to another get-together with Lim Clan! =) My cousin rock~~~

… A Night with the Ladies
My friendship with this group of ladies been like close to 10yrs already. From seeing each other in school uniform to now all doing well in the marketplace and one of them will be having her ROM next week. So happy for her!

We don't have long dinner or long chit chat session but just having to be around to catch up with each other = awesome!
We gossiped, we talked about our secondary days, we talked about our classmates who are married or pregnant, we even talked about the different prices of houses at different areas etc etc.

Definitely looking forward to the next session with the ladies... =)

non-stop! non-stop!

After two weeks of break, went back to school today.
The day started with verrrrrrry heavy rain and despite of that, I got to carry four full bags of recycled items (bottles & cans etc) back.
Thank God for the help of my mama and my brother!

The moment I reached school… it was the start of my non-stop working time.

All wet, Yanni was welcomed not with a “hello” but…
“Yanni, here is your lesson plan… we got to do this and that later… there are quite a lot of thing to do today” from my level head.
And followed closely was the aunty…
“Yanni, later help me push the things from your classroom out… all the rooms I wiped already… waiting for you to come back to help me push the things out so I can clean your classroom“.
Haha! They really miss me ar?!

Immediately my =) became =/
* flipped *

And immediately I rolled up my sleeves (drama-rama a bit) and started pushing and carrying the stuffs out of my classroom.

Before I can take a extra small break, the bell rang - got to gather for meeting. The meeting didn’t went long and after the meeting, it was another meeting with my level head to final check Term 3 resources.

Soon after, level head went to do lesson plan and I went off to do my class’ 5 boards - to remove and put up new plastic sheet. Thank God for the “training” @ HT so can survived doing it alone.
As my principal Mrs E Tan wanted a revamp to all the classroom boards thus she was there to give instructions/suggestions.

One thing I must say… Mrs E Tan rocks!!!
She is the only principal (at least to me) who I know who will willingly do the “classroom chores”! Like hello… a principal helped me to remove pins from the board, put up stuffs, and even SWEPT THE FLOOR. There are really a lot of things that she will do personally and many are not what a principal got to.

If it was my previous principal, I think… hmm hmm hmm.
Another which I’m @@ by her - as I put up the plastic sheet on the board before she can gives the instruction thus she was not able to carry out what she wanted to. Instead of losing her cool or asking me to remove everything, she cracked her head and think how to enhance what I have already done. =)

Off to lunch, a quick one!
After that, no regular break, no talking-session but immediately back to work again - tidy up classroom, packed the stuff and resources.
Then it was hanging of bottles outside classroom - that seem to take 10yrs cause it kept dropping.

Then it was already 415pm… official dismissal time 430pm.
Then off we went to the hall for the next task - to collect our library books. As NLB loan us many books for two terms thus we need to be there to sort out one by one and take out what we want.

It was already 445pm when I left the school… went to meet Boss L for dinner. Was almost “activated” back to print worksheet after dinner but thank God it was done before I can head back.

It was really a non-stop day @ school… after lunch don’t even have time to go buy drinks and even going to the toilet also must x10 speed or even consider going later those kind.
Haha! No joke… really non-stop!

Still remembered the days in HT, during school holiday - I will work work with FM933 at the background in my comfort zone. After lunch or during “free time”, I will go look for my other colleagues to disturb and chat chat those kind. Haha!

But in LSK… sorry no time to. =p

oh no!

As I woke up earlier, for a moment I was quite reluctant to get off the bed.. not so much on wanting to sleep some more but rather enjoying my last "relaxing morning" be.. becau.. because I am going back to school tomorrow!!!

How time flies! Can still remembered the "Monday" where my 2wks holiday first started and now is going to be over! And next "Monday" will be the official start of school which mean another 10weeks of battle!

It was a busy period towards the end of Term 2 - on top of the daily/weekly stuff, what added on was the school's annual Sports Day!
Before I set off for my June holiday, I was told by my level head to be prepared for Term 3 cause there will be increase of difficulty and expectations in curriculum and to add on - school concert! And also the official visit by MOE which I may be chosen to be interviewed by the MOE officers!
Opps! Cause under this QRS program, the MOE officers need to interview the principal, a senior teacher and a new staff to ask about school curriculum, philosophy, mission etc etc.

My level head is not the only one who told me that Term 3 will be busy, few of my other colleagues also prepared me for Term 3.
One mentioned, "if you think Term 2 Sports Day is busy, wait till you experience Term 3 concert!"

Hmm.. though Miss Lim has experience in concert and also teaching children to dance etc but when it comes to concert in LSK, it may be different story. Haha! Don't know what to expect as everything in LSK is so different.

Whatever it is, let me "enjoy" the last few days of my holiday first.. =)

this is a must

Hmm… seem to be able to do “this” only during school holiday! But it seem to be a must to do “this” every school holiday too! Haha!

Though many times I was tempted to do “this” alone cause quite hard to coordinate the time with friends but this time thank God for two steady friends who agreed just the night before.

Our many “first”…
- without the brothers
- much longer, for 3hrs++
- conquered new and far land
Girls Power!

The feeling of doing “this” = awesome!
“this” = cycling … haha!

I simply love that day … “agenda-less” day!
After cycling, someone mentioned about spa/massage and the rest just “Okie! Let’s go!”. After our unsuccessful search @ Bugis, we left and went Orchard instead - no one objected.
Nice experience @ first ticklish fish spa which was later joined by another two friends!

Next one mentioned “steamboat for dinner!” and the rest just “Yeah! Been some time since we last had one! Let’s go!” and from Orchard we headed back Bugis again - no one complained or objected.

At the end of the day, much $$ were spent but all worth it - more than just the “physical enjoyment”, what I really treasured & enjoyed was the time with friends!

I love day day night night!

Some love to look at the sky when they are troubled…
Some love to look at the sky when they need inspiration…

Some love to look at the sky when they are full of joy…

Some love to look at the sky when they have nothing to do…

But Yanni simply just love the sky, the cloud & night scenery!

"thanks" ar

WARNING! WARNING!
Do not continue if your heart is not good.
This is an entry for me to vent my anger! Arggghhhh!!!

ps: probably some of you may know what or even who I'm talking about, pls remain shhh and don’t ever try talking to me about it… haha!

#1: a slip of tongue = laughing stock?

Recently at one event - I said sxx instead of sxxxx. It was just a slip of tongue which I knew at the point of time I made a mistake but before I can even correct myself, someone announce to the whole world with a mic. Like hello?! “Thanks ar” for sounding the trumpet!

#2: crashing my confidence AGAIN

Not long after, someone else with a mic proclaimed that I did this “something” for the first time which the truth should be I’ve been doing that often! Stupid me for giving the person the time to talk. That point of time I was thinking - “Hello! Not everything you need to say over the mic! And if you want to make a joke out of me, can you like do it within a smaller group instead of a crowd?!”

This response to this “something” happened before but from another Friend N which I already showed unhappiness and my other friends know this is one of Yanni’s time bombs and they don’t dare to joke about it and thank to this particular friend, the bomb got activated again. Like what I mentioned before when this "something" first happened - if you guys have opinion of me doing this then pls go to the person-in-charge and take me out from there!

#3: my “pain” = you guys’ happiness?
It happened before … Is happening again!!!

Over at dinner, probably this particular friend ran out of topic to talk or this particular friend wants to let the friends have a good laugh so this person happily mentioned BOTH incidents. I may “haha” at the point when you shared but that doesn’t mean I approve of what you are doing. I could have “flip table” but didn't want to make the situation awkward. I do think before I act but this friend of mine don’t seem to.

The reason I’m blogging = I am totally not happy about it!
To the extend that when this person apologized to me many times after everything, for a minute I was like "too late!" and I didn't even bother to reply the person.
I don't hate the person, I'm just disappointed cause this is not the first time this particular friend did this - at the point when you speaks, why didn't you think twice first? Whats the point of "sorry sorry" when previously you left a cut and when is finally healed, you are like reopening the wound by pouring salt into it?!

Got this from one of my blog entries...
Just a thought: Our mouth can be very powerful- words/comments that we made to our friend/s can either be life or death. The person who said it can meant it to be a joke but a joke must always have its limit. To me … I felt that a joke is not a joke when it cause hurt to someone!
Never carry too far with a joke, especially when your ‘joke’ goes too far to the extent of embarrassing the person you are ‘joking’ about and left the person feeling terrible cause you said it infront of many! “Do to others what you want others to do to you”. Let’s us all be sensitive … and always be watchful/caution with the remarks we made.

Again...

Attended the MOE Conference for kindergarten teachers and principals. It was a conference for us to know more about the newly launched K-link and “The Wonders of Outdoor”…

Over at the conference where 1000 plus teachers/principals gathered, I saw my ex coursemates but the greatest joy came when I met my ex colleagues & principal from my very FIRST kindergarten.

Most of them are still teaching there - my ex principal is now a Branch Administrator, one of my ex colleagues promoted to principal and another to Senior Teacher just this year.
To catch up with them brought warmth to my heart and this made me think back…

PCF Serangoon - the place where my teaching journey started
After two attempts of o’level, I thought “that’s it to my dream of becoming a teacher!“ but you see… I have a miracle-working God!
Thank God for His grace & favor - with the recommendation of a friend, I went in PCF as a relief teacher. During then MOE raised the standard of kindergarten teachers hence many of the teachers were required to take course but many of the senior teachers (in age as well) didn’t wish to so they chose to leave and with that teachers were needed.

Thankfully I was asked to go for a proper interview … I passed … and soon was sent to CPT (the basic requirement) by the school.
I am thankful to my ex-principal Mrs G Wong for willing to take me in despite having no experience/proper qualification.

I spent many good years @ the kindergarten.

Can still remembered I celebrated my 21st birthday there too…
Learnt a lot, picked up a lot and had my many “first time” there…

During that season, PCF kindergarten pretty “hot” thus I thank God that He allowed me to start off my education journey there - that was like a “bonus” when I went interview @ my 2nd kindergarten.

FINALLY.. holiday! holiday!

Many asked “holiday already, still got to go back school?”
Yup… when is a month (or a week) holiday, pls do not think that teachers get to enjoy it fully. Very much on the school, we usually got to go back one-two weeks. And of course purpose to clear up previous term stuffs and to prepare for the next term.

Was back in school whole of last week and almost whole of this week.
Out of 5 days last week, 3 days were taken for course/conference where we had two days of “QRS training” and one “MOE Conference”.
All three days was 9am-5pm, long duration - probably been some time I attended lecture so was “struggling” to keep awake at the beginning.

got the above at the conference … can you guess the word?

This week was supposed to be 3days week but was “activated” for day4 and throughout- did planning & discussion for term 3 curriculum on ALL subjects then was sorting, keeping, discussing, planning, writing, typing, printing, cutting etc etc etc.

It was a fruitful day Mon!
For hours, my level head & I didn’t side-track or even chit chatted but we just focused on our task - what my level head planned to complete in 2 days… we did it in 1 day!
Tues & Wed we did some “touch up”.. checked learning corners.. prepare the resources.. did art & craft etc etc.

It was then “Factory Production Line” yest - cant imagine from 8am+ to 5pm+ my level and I (+ principal’s son who was activated in the morning) did nothing but just phonics resources.

Three people still cant complete fast? Haha!
Trust me.. the work is MAJOR!

Probably cause of the class size.. everything we do is always x30, x60.

a peek at phonics resources...

After enduring for ~two weeks... is finally over!!

I am a City Harvester!

Currently City Harvest Church is very hot in the media - from Ch5 news to Channelnews asia and not forgetting from English to Chinese newspaper.

Even in school, many of my colleagues also came to me…
“You from City Harvest one right?”
“You know what’s the topic in my family now? Is CHC.. my son kept talking about it?”
“What happened to your church ar?”
And just today, someone asked…
“Your church ok a not?”
“Your church like very messy hor… Pst and the Sun divorce already?”

* flipped *
Sometime it can be quite irritating to read the newspaper, especially the Chinese. It just amazing to see how farrrrrrr they can go. Probably they are too free? Or they just want to fill up the pages?

Reading the comments on Pst Kong’s fb just brought warmth to my heart… indeed we are not just church members, we are a FAMILY!
“Singapore need Pst Kong and CHC” - from fb … how true is that!

Personally for myself - I have NEVER regret joining City Harvest! I am proud to tell others that I am from City Harvest Church. I have complete trust and confidence on Pst Kong and leadership.

I have been in CHC since I was 15 years old. Never once I regretted!
Eventhough I was approached by others to join their church - my aunt whose husband is some big shot in the church and my current kindergarten's church staff also asked me to cross over to theirs.

If not for God, City Harvest and the leadership… I wont be who I am today, I wont be doing what I am doing today, I wont be accomplishing what I have accomplished today (seriously)..

Will continue to keep Pst Kong, Sun and City harvest Church in prayers. We will go through it STRONG and VICTORY is ours!

AsIa CoNfErEnCe 2010

Unlike Asia Conference 2008, I wasn’t able to attend ALL session this Asia Conf 2010.
As much as I wanted to go, I cant cause yet to release for holiday but this time I was hungry for the Word and His presence.
So I told myself to treasure every session that I can attend. Therefore I went to every session with great expectancy.

I‘m touched… I’m strengthen… I’m challenged…

I love all the preachers!
Rev. David Yonggi Cho & Rev. Reinhard Bonnke - a great privilege to hear from them!
Was so challenged by Rev. Reinhard Bonnke’s passion and love for the lost and not forgetting the salvation in millions.

One of the mornings also can to witness the ordination of Pastor Lily!!!
Am soooo happy (genuine joy) and proud of her and of course to be under her leadership.

Looking forward to Asia Conference 2012! =)
