2010 Final Peek

LSK is pretty well-known for its learning corners and its self-made resources from recycled items + its self-check device.

Be it @ the Kindergarten Forum or Peer Sharing, LSK’s learning corners usually get praises and affirmations like “Wow! Wow!” “So nice!” “That's very creative!” “Good idea!” "I am going to do it at my school!" etc etc.

Check out some…

ps: can help to collect for us if you have too…

From bread tags to buttons to bottle caps to…

Potato-Chips-Canisters
Beside collaboration with the parents where we get them to give to us if they have, the teachers played a part too. Still remember those days where LSK needed many so can see the teachers busy eating chips everywhere
. We used it from Math to English to Chinese and for all levels.

The following done by the children…

Yakult bottles
This was much easy collection as most of it were given by the children. Our team is so resourceful that they actually called Yakult Company who actually gave us empty bottles!

Still remember a season where we needed those for the setup for “My Supermarket @ My Neighbourhood”… many teachers and family got to drink “carefully” - cant poke straw in and cant peel off the cover completely too.

Pencil/Coloured pencil boxes What others may see it as “rubbish”, LSK team see it as “treasure” cause with the creativity God given to us, we can transform it to meaning learning resource! We used it for English & Math resource and for N2 all the way to K2.

Sweet tins Yes! From chips to drinks and now to sweets! Haha! The most common sweets that LSK teachers will have are none other than “Eclipse” & “Extra“! Haha! Used it mainly at our Math learning corner - for addition, subtraction and counting.

Egg carton
So far used for English & Math - counting, count back and count on.

Newly which will be introduced in 2011 are recycled items like mooncake boxes, disc holders and paper bags etc etc etc etc etc.

LSK teachers are often very “cautious and careful”- whatever thing that we eat/drink/use/see, we will be thinking “Can this be used as learning resource? Does Mrs E Tan need this?”

There was once we ate “Ferrero Rocher”.. we also got to eat carefully as the "original shape" was needed. Another was the jelly container we had @ one of the buffet meals. We got to peel off a little as the whole container in its "original form" was needed too. Haha!

Looking forward to 2011 where I will get to work closely with Mrs E Tan for the learning resources!
