K2 been learning about $$$ last couple of weeks.
All along, during this period, our schoolhouse will call up a vendor who will come in his van full of tibits, fun items etc etc to the school for the children to have an experience of using $$$ to make purchase, to calculate the total/change etc etc.
This year the uncle couldn’t make it so with the intention of not wanting to disappoint the children, Cher Lim decided to create her own - Incredible Minimart. 
It was quite a last minute decision thus Cher Lim only had little time to prepare. Just a day before, Cher Lim stayed behind to get stuffs printed before going to the supermarket to carefully select the items with some “standard”.
That morning, Cher Lim took a cab (as it was too early for the first bus) and carried all the items and reached school before 7am to get everything ready.
Though it was rush, though it was tiring, though it caused a hole in my pocket (haha!) BUT it was all worth it when Cher Lim see…
~ the children getting excited days before the minimart day
Informed the children to ask their parents to give them $2 on Tues for the minimart fun on Fri. And since Wed, Child J kept coming to me “Cher Lim, I can’t wait for Friday to come!” or “Cher Lim, how I wish today is Friday then I can buy things!”
~ the joy in the children after they made their purchase
First it was “not enough sleep” then it was “durian feast” with colleagues…
What’s next? Yanni's symptoms of "going to be sick" surfaced.
Sore throat… Feverish… Running nose…
Yanni is sick, on mc…
A pretty important decision (at least to me)… should I or should I not?

Recently two new boys registered at our schoolhouse and one of them is only 18-20months old. =)
It can be pretty "challenging" taking care of someone verrry young...
~ got to ensure he is always within our sight and within our reach, as he can be pretty unstable in certain areas
~ got to pat him to sleep and stay around him during nap time.
Up to now, out of the 2hrs nap, he has never cross even 1hr mark, always awake after 30mins and then we got to stay beside him until the time is up
~ got to ensure he take his milk, breakfast, lunch and poo at the right time
~ etc etc etc
But one thing for sure … … … HE IS VERY ADORABLE!!!! =)
He loves to eat… anything & everything. Opps!
One of the days, he woke up SUDDENLY from his nap… crying very badly. Just when we were thinking what happened, he shouted “No more! No more!”.
Hmm… that’s actually one of his favourite lines during snack time when he finishes his food. Hmm… I supposed he had a “delicious dream”. Haha!
Earlier one my colleagues were sharing with me one conversation among a group of ladies that she overheard.
One Lady: You know, primary school teachers like us are very fortunate. We are recognized by the MOE unlike the preschool teachers. They got to clean up the children, prepare lunch for the children, wash up the children, put the children to sleep, make milk etc… they are like maid.
Colleague: * feel the urge to turn to them to say “Excuse me…” *
Putting the term “maid” aside, there are actually pretty much of routine care we preschool teachers have to look into/take care of. But trust me, we definitely enjoy every moment of it. Just imagine how Cher Yanni enjoys herself during nap time - looking at the children entering/exiting their dreamland. =)
Probably unlike other sectors’ teachers, we preschool teachers may be easily forgotten by the little ones? How many of us actually remember who were our preschool teachers, not to mention visiting them on Teachers’ Day? Or even recognize them and say "hi" when bump into our preschool teachers?

“it” happened in the past… blogged about "it"… somehow thought “it” been solved/over… “it” never appear for quite some time already… BUT recently “it” seem to be back…
Arggghhh! I am totally not comfortable when “it” happens! I don’t like "it"! I hate "it"!

Other than the long hours & holiday-less, it is actually pretty fun working in schoolhouse. Beside having to teach, I get to spend longer time with the children, more in the area of routine care, especially those staying full day.
I quite enjoy nap time… watching the little ones fall asleep/awake with different styles, habits, postures and patterns.
~ few close their eyes immediately upon landing on the bed but still awake until a good 30 to 45mins of tossing before really zzz
~ few choose to stare blankly at one spot and allow the eyes to get smaller and smaller
~ one sobsob to sleep (new child) in the warm embrace of a teacher
~ few choose to do somersaults & stunts on bed until teacher gives firm instruction
~ few awake at one call
~ few still zzzzz after many calls
~ few can sleep anywhere - even after removing the bed, they can still continue on the floor in their "shell"
Haha! Sound like a boring post ar… sorry ar… a “new” experience for Cher Lim. =)
After a gooooooood 5days break, tomorrow got to head back to school.

14/9 - marks the start of Term 4
Am used to having a break after a good 10 weeks of Term 3 before entering into another busy 10 weeks of Term 4 but this year I had 11weeks of Term 3...
Due to the changeover to schoolhouse, didn’t get to enjoy the one-week school holiday after a tiring 10 weeks but continue over week 11 and straight entered into Week 1 of Term 4 which is this week.
Thank God for His strength that kept me through the 11 weeks in school. Think about it, throughout this 11 weeks…
- I was not on mc
- I didn’t activate any of my leave days
- I didnt fall sick during week 9/10
But as I’m blogging now, I am actually enjoying my 2nd day of leave, the feeling great…
- no need to teach
- no routine to keep to
- can rest my throat
- can give my ears some peace ... =pLooking forward to school again after the long weekend. Got to prepare myself as always, Term 4 will be a busy term…
- to finish off the syllabus
- to finish the activity sheet

One conversation I had with a parent just yesterday...
Parent: Cher Lim, I am thinking of sending my Child B to this school in the morning then to PAP in the afternoon. Do you think it will be tough for him?

Parent: You know, my friend’s son is in that PAP. They write a lot. They already started writing many Chinese words English too.

Cher Lim: Hmm… instead of sending him to two schools, why not enroll him at our side whole day?
Parent: What will he do in the afternoon? Got homework? Got worksheet? Got writing

Then she ended by pouring her heart out that she is worried for her boy, worried her boy cannot make it in primary one (boy is only in K1 this year), worried about her son's speech cause he cant pronoun pronoun certain words clearly (despite having the confirmation from speech therapist that her son is ok) etc.I too happened to ask about her second daughter who I taught before on how she is doing in primary one. Mum said she top the class but what really @@ me was the mum didn’t really give much credit to her daughter but claimed “because I started tuition early for her, when she was in K1 already”. Like what I told the mum MANY times, probably since two years ago when I taught her daughter during her two years of K2 education that both her children actually doing fine academically - like for the boy in K1 this year, when I popped out a word to the whole class, just when there were complete silence, this boy bravely name out the word correctly. And few weeks back when a friend was struggling to identify the numerals, he was there to "teach" him.
ps: why two years of K2 for the daughter? Because when she was 5years old, mum felt that she is capable and want her to go for K2. Sometime it can get pretty disappointing and angry to encounter parents who are overly anxious. Only in preschool, don’t know what to expect when they enter into primary/secondary…
Is it really the reason?
If really so … I can only say, that’s a “nice timing”!

Recently met up with Friend GF for a short but great fellowship or I should say catching up session.
Touched by Friend GF’s simple gestures.
Like what I told Friend GF - it never fails to bring a smile to me as I see the changesss that took place in Friend GF and definitely knowing/seeing Friend GF doing well in life!
=) Probably is the years of friendship, got to witness GF’s before and after.
Friend GF is really one of the friends who I realllllly feel very proud and happy to see the changes/happenings in GF’s life.

Seldom overslept actually b..u…t b…u…t it been two days in a row already! Oops!
I’m halfway through week 11...
Hmm… should be having my R&R + break from teaching BUT BUT due to the change from kindergarten to schoolhouse aka childcare, won't get to enjoy school holiday. =(
Probably cause I’m too used to working in kindergarten - having a break after a term of 10 weeks which somehow I find it quite necessary, to rest/replenish etc.
I need a break~~~
Still on the other hand, thank God for “leave” which I will get to enjoy next week.

Special entry dedicated to Teacher Yanni's W5 students! =)
For myself in JAMs, beside getting appreciated, I will also take a little time to appreciate some of my bus students. Previously I got them something simple, a “card stand” with simple wordings. This year will be necessary again - probably a treat or small gift.
Most of my bus students are pretty matured (in age, understanding level etc) so I can always entrust them with responsibilities.
Long ago, few of them were even being “activated” as Lift Security by our Mr Security Head. Sometime when I’m left to do busing alone, there wouldn’t be much problem. Not because “Teacher Yanni is powerful” to manage on her own but rather she has a group of helpful and independent students that allow everything to be easy.
Though they may never get to read this but Teacher Yanni really wants to say a big THANK YOU to Std Ch, Std Hy, Std Jo, Std Fy, Std Wj, Std Hx, Std Ld, Std Js and Std Kh.
ps: as I typed out the names, I was shocked to see “quite many?!”
Std Hy (VERY responsible to the “object” entrusted to him) & Std Ch

~ whenever they are activated to carry Std I, they will never give negative reply but “Ok no prob! I am strong!“
~ anytime Std B get out of control, they are on the standby to lend me their muscles
~ they have their sweetest side too, they really know how to make the little ones laugh their heart out using the simplest “tool”
* I got to salute them for the following - recently my bus got to fetch a new Std B who is rather old in age thus she is pretty slow when it come to walking and getting up/down the bus.
Before the bus even stops, Std Hy and Std Ch (together with Std Js) will already be standing at the door. The moment the door opened, they will always get down the bus before me (opps!). Slowly and gently they will hold Std B and walk her over and up the bus. 
Std Jo - she is very helpful. Despite of her not-so-good vision, she always offer and very willing to take care of student for me. Other than 3 gentlemen, the rest of them are ladies. Most of them have a “fixed student” to take care. Many of them will go beyond what is expected - know the routine of the "std-in-need", bring the “std-in-need” to toilet, carry them, make them laugh, watch over them etc.
This post will be super long if I post one by one but from the bottom of my heart, I really appreciate every single one of them! =)

Sometime it gets pretty encouraging and will bring =) to us (at least to me)…
Once we were still students, and now… …
so and so is preparing for marriage, who and who married, so and so is a mother now, so and so is doing well in their newly established business, so and so is happily enjoying life, so and so is doing well financially etc etc

A new student in nursery, adorable & smart boy - Child I
Though I don’t teach nursery but Child I know me and pretty like me actually… cause I will bring him to “places” no other teachers would want to bring him. Haha!
The way he call out "Teacher Lim" never fails to make my day! =)
Almost everyday during dismissal, he will come to me to ask me to carry him. Depending when the mum arrive, some day I can carry him for few times. =)
Just yesterday I was happily standing outside the door, waiting for parents and the next thing - I missed my step and HAD A FALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I was rubbing my wound, I was sooooooooooo. really soooooooooo thankful to God that during the fall, I was alone! Cause I would well be carrying Child I as the place where I missed my step is a “frequent” spot I will carry him to lookout for his mum.

Cant imagine what will happen if I were carrying him during my fall… I am going to be super duper guilty! Then I was thinking - is ok if I were to be injured but never want it to be on Child I.
=) Need to constantly pray for protection!
Previously @ my kindergarten, children will only have snack time with menu like biscuit with milo, macaroni, bread etc.
Most of it are children’s “familiar & favourite food” so no prob getting them to eat.
@ my current schoolhouse, due to some enrichment classes etc, children will have to take their lunch in school. Just this term, we started to cater food, the daily menu actually can be pretty sumptuous with a daily must-have fruit.
Few examples...
rice + sweet and sour fish, fishball + veg soup and apple
OR
rice + fish fritter, beancurd + cabbage soup and watermelon
OR
hor fun with gravy + papaya
But it can be a “challenge” to get some of the children to eat. Usually I will pray before that God will shorten my “suffering“ time. Haha!
Some common statements…
“What is this? I don’t want that!”
“I don’t want the fish”
“I don’t want the carrot”
“I don’t eat this chicken”
The most favourite line - “I don’t want veggie”
There will also be few who take 30mins to eat two spoons of rice or ten minutes to chew their food and usually I got to “remind” them to eat/chew.
Haha! No joke! You really got to see them in action (or out?).
I will have parents coming to me with different requests when it comes to their child’s eating. Understandable, that’s why as much as possible, I will try to help “fulfill” their request.
Most of the time veggie is the enemy of the children. Haha!
But thank God what’s enemy to the children @ home will not be the “enemy” to the children in school.
Somehow they don’t have the chance to be picky with Cher Lim around. Haha!

A K1 boy Child B who doesn’t like to eat veggie, will give me a “going-to-vomit” face when I ask him to eat. After a talk with the mum who said he just being picky and want me to help ensure he eats veggie in school… muahaha … of course Cher Lim will gladly help.
At first he ate the veggie unwillingly cause is Cher Lim’s instruction so no way of “negotiating“. Haha! At one time he told me “I eat the veggie already! I swallow!” Opps! But just last week before I can ask him, he told me “I love veggie!” Haha! And now you don’t really see the “going-to-vomit” face anymore.

=) no doubt it can be a “challenge” to see the children through their eating time but still it can be encouraging and will make my day when I see “result“…

It may have started with “force” as Cher Lim’s instruction so no choice but you never know, they may eventually will learn to accept it.

To get ndp ticket can be pretty challenging … not to mention to get not the preview, not the rehearsal but for the 9th Aug!!!

Wonderful! Total different feel to watch from tv and "LIVE"!
The "warm-up" activities was fun! The happenings on stage, in the air, on the water, upclose among the audience was like x10 in size and x10 in excitement (at least to me).
I was so busy capturing all moments in my memory that I decided to put aside my camera and just enjoy "the moment". =)
ps: actually I quite like the above segment! =)
When the hosts first got us to look up, I was like "where? where!". Then the next thing when I looked up again, without seeing the helicopter, I saw 12 tiny little things coming down!
Other than the crowd (esp dismissal), all was WONDERFUL!
I wouldn’t mind going again! =p
(Met few JAMs students - two of them were telling us that they get the actual ndp tickets EVERY year! Hmm....)
To add on to the challenge of Friend L & myself to “watch over” Std M & granny in the midst of the "red sea" … halfway through the journey, granny wasn’t feeling well (really not well) and little Std M was sleepy! We were so desperate for transport that we almost wanted to call the ambulance but thank God granny was much better after few rounds of vomit. ~phew~

Though tired but all in all, definitely worth it! =)

Just got back my practicum folder recently - “passed with merit”
Am very happy with the result!
Thank God for the 1.5years!
Will get the "hardcopy" of the cert @ the graduation ceremony two months later...
CHC - Dreams Are Realized, Success Is Celebrated
CHC celebrated 20th anniversary last weekend… =)
Wow… awesome 20years! Definitely more awesome years ahead!
For myself………
- joined CHC 11 years ago … no regret since then
… years back I was asked by one of my aunties to join her church. No matter how persistence she was, I was also very firm to say no
- the first service I went was @ Hollywood Theatre
- went with 3 cousins (sad to say, I am the only “survivor”)
It is @ CHC where I experienced true joy & peace, encountered God’s presence, met great friends, get a chance to do things I never imagine I can do, self-esteem/confidence increased … the list can go on and on
I am very thankful to God for placing me and to be a part of this awesome family in this awesome City Harvest Church! =)
@ the celebration last weekend…
The early wake, the short hours of sleep, the wait was ALL WORTH IT.
I left with many “wowowow”… by
- the presence & love of God
- the sacrifices by the pioneers of CHC (esp Pst Kong & Sun)
- the great testimonies of pioneers … they started full in their heart but empty in their pocket but they are not just full in their heart, they are definitely full in their pocket
- the generosity/excellence of CHC
- etc etc etc
