sweeeeeeeet

I have this boy Child D in my K2 class… he is a very obedient and rather quiet boy. =)

As my school is a 3hrs program so the timetable are actually pretty tight so basically my lunch time too. I really need to squeeze out time to eat … hmm I mean swallow lunch! Haha!

So many time I got to grab my food first, placed in class and wait for a “break” to eat so the children get to see my food or even Miss Lim eating. Haha!

Whenever Child D see me after my “lunch”, he will always ask very quietly and gently “Miss Lim, you eat already?”
I replied “Yes!” and he will just smiled and walked away.

Just today he asked me before and after my “lunch”
* before *
Child D: Miss Lim, you eat already?
Miss Lim: Oh… not yet. Going to after Z Laoshi come in. =)
Child D: Orr… ok!

* after *
Child D: Miss Lim, you eat already?
Miss Lim: Yes! =) Thank you Child D!
Child D: * whisper * Miss Lim, later you go home must remember to eat ok?
Miss Lim: Yes I will! =)

Woooooo Weekend - Part 2

Attended Mr & Mrs Tang’s wedding… my secondary school/classmates.
I know Mrs Tang longer and for a period of time she was one of our GS-ladies.

So interesting - yearssss back witnessed their little "love story” back in secondary school and yearsssss later they are married!!!

It was simply awesome to just there to witness their wedding!
Not forgetting the catching up with other school/classmates.

Unlike other wedding, this wedding caused me to have “more feelings”.

Really very happy (I mean really very happy) for them.

Best wishes to Mr & Mrs Tang!

Woooooo Weekend

(late post)
Rather tired physically precious week … for the first time as a teacher, I almost fall asleep while marking worksheet! Opps!

All accumulated - the tiredness, the work load in school and the late nights. It all started during the 30th/31st weekend. It was a PACK weekend but it was awesome!

Saturday 30th
JAMs Church - enrichment weekend.
Then though my flesh was weak but my spirit was willing as help was needed to set up for enrichment. I thank God I was of help.

After which went “shopping” with Allyson then alone to get gifts for the different people in our zone.

Rushed back to school to meet up with colleagues before we set off to “Appreciation Dinner” with the kindergarten church’s Senior Pastor.
Just when I thought will be a 8 course dinner or something … it turned out to be an international buffet @ XXX hotel.

Just when I thought “just dinner” … we were given hongbao!
Don’t know is for cny or for appreciation for 2009,
Just when I thought “is small amount“ … not really.

Throughout feel quite “paiseh” to receive the treat and hongbao. It meant to be an appreciation of the staff for their hard work in 2009 cause of the various awards the kindergarten won etc.

Sunday 31st
Slept only @ 4am plus and woke up @ 7am - was doing something “unimportant”. Haha!

JAMs in the morning - hamper wrapping!

Fun and nice experience! =)
Totally happy to see w5 students worked together!

Skipped busing for service.

After which, rushed over to JAMs’ Workers’ Appreciation.
Thank God for the privilege to serve in this ministry … the breakthroughsssss, the blessingsssss & the friendssssssss! =)

Immediately after our zone’s appreciation to Lily… I quickly flew home and changed then set off to somewhere else.

to be continued…

my days in LSK

Times flies… approaching the end of week 5.
How’s Miss Lim in LSK?

Many of my colleagues been asking me how’s everything, how am I coping with the lesson, am I adjusting well to the school, how am I with the children etc etc etc.

“Wonderful!”
“Awesome!”
“Yes! I’m doing great!”
“No problem!”
… none of the above was mentioned. Haha!

All I can say is “Still adjusting. Still swimming, at times will sink. Not really there yet.”

Though only 5 weeks in LSK but feel so long already - so many things to take note of, so many things to watch out for, so many things to cover, so many things to keep up, so many things to prepare, so many things are expected etc etc.

ONE of the MANY practices that I think is pretty cool - every child’s birthday will be celebrated, during assembly with the entire school, with the blessings from all friends and the teachers! Not forgetting a “standard present”. Just when you thought is by month, is actually on their actual birthday - individually!

Probably there are many christian kindergarten around but not all/many christian kindergarten are actually as alive/active as LSK.
Is a christian kindergarten - everyday the children will start the day with PRAISE & WORSHIP. Throughout the day, prayers will be made to Jesus - even after certain lesson, for friends who are sick, for any other prayer requests by the children.

I thank God for a good principal… =)
She is really someone who dreams big, thinks big, do big, pray big, encourages big! I really got to admit - she is verrrrrrrrrrrry different from my previous principals! =)

children OH children

I love children and love being with them!

This few weeks in LSK been pretty “challenging” … trust me!
Some of my days will somehow be started "bad" … not just “Monday blues” or "Thursday green” or "tiredness" but it just xxx yyy zzz (haiz).

Though at times I may find it difficult to =) or overwhelmed by the pressure right from the beginning of the day or sometimes even the night before!!! But the moment I stepped into the assembly hall, I made it a point to lift up my spirit and to greet the children with a great big =). And I made it a point that throughout my day with them, I won't let my mood affect my attitude or responses/treatment towards them.

EVERYDAY without fail, each session will definitely end with a =) on Miss Lim's face and especially when the children stop and give a hug!

Miss Lim, JIAYOU oh JIAYOU!

MID week

Finally I get to be @ home “peacefully”.
Past two nights was @ the hospital as one of my w5 students is admitted due to small intestines infection and lost of blood.
Both nights I stayed till 8pm plus 9pm... just wanted to be there for the student and mum.

Wanted to go over again today but ended up leaving school only @ 6pm plus.
Thank God! Got a call from the mum earlier that his report indicated it is not cancerous and needn’t operation thus if everything go on well, he will be discharging soon. Will drop by again tomorrow.

It is only the third day into school week…
Despite of the late nights, I thank God for the strength each day. I am actually doing perfectly fine physically!
But I guess I'm 30% “defeated” emotionally/mentally… though is only week 2 @ school but am starting to feel the pressure by the demands/expectations.

I thank God for His love & assurance… released everything to God @ morning worship. Felt so much better after that!

FIRST week

4 Jan 2010 - the start of my journey in LSK

How was my first week?
Few days before school reopens, I guess I was only 20% excited and 80% nervous!
Just the night before - I know that I got to put to a stop of all negative thoughts and confession! I lifted myself to the Lord… I felt His peace!

Received smses from few friends asking how was my first day @ work.
Not a standard answer but it was a good start and a good time with colleagues/children. After a month break, is always good to be in the midst of little children.

Throughout I actually have a senior colleague hand-holding me where she was around to guide me along the orientation week, how their lesson is to be conducted, their routine, their culture, their style of doing certain task etc.

Really thank God for peace & boldness - I used to “tremble” when I teach infront of an adult but not so this time when this senior colleague was around to observe me. I was like having much fun teaching and enjoying every moment with the children.

This entire week been rather physically tiring - having to be out and in school for close to 10hrs.
I was shocked when I saw the remainder value in my ezlink card cause this entire week other than home and school, it was still home/school.
Too tired to go anywhere in the night? Haha! On Fri night, I even slept @ 7pm plus!

But it been nice experience working @ LSK - morning prayer, morning worship/sharing, spiritual assembly, prayer/grace before lesson/snack, spiritual input to children etc etc.

Like what I told my principal - by God’s grace, my stay in LSK will get even better! Amen! =)
Looking forward to week 2!!!

2010 FIRST entry

FIRST day of the year, 1 Jan 2010 : fun time, great fellowship with awesome friends
FIRST service of the year : fantastic start … recharged in His presence
FIRST busing of the year : fun … love spending time with w5
FIRST JAMs of the year : cool ... greater breakthrough ahead

Indeed 2010 going to be my BEST year yet … GRACE GRACE

what will you do?

Had an “interesting” experience @ JAMs…

Right at the beginning of the first service of the year, the students were informed about the “rules”. One of it - to refrain from going toilet during service. And if they still choose to go, they will have to stay outside the hall till further notice.

Once I was @ the door with Teacher XX…
For a few students - they went out and actually waited a while (patiently) before they were allowed into hall again.
For another few students - after we told them they may not get to come in immediately once they leave - they uturn back to their seat, you could see that they did some thinking. Haha!

But there was this Std D who made a big fuss - actually he went to the toilet but as there were no one outside to hold him so he returned immediately.

So I decided to tell him that was his “last chance” and if he ever go out again, we will be strict with him. I could say that to them obviously means that he is one with understanding.

As Std D listened, could see the change in his expression and then a fist appeared…

“You don’t let me go toilet … what if my kidney burst how?
If my kidney burst, are you going to pay for my kidney?”
* said it with angry tone *

“Don’t worry, your kidney won’t burst so easily” … before I could continue, he was being ushered away by his bus teacher.

I know Std D and I know his attitude can be quite bad and has temper problem but I’m actually quite disappointed with the way he answer/respond to us.
And I guess I was even more disappointed when his bus teacher told me things like - “He is in bad mood today. Guess he is more than happy not to come in. You are thankful that he didn’t whack you or use vulgar words. When he is in bad mood, he is like that one.” etc.

That point of time I was thinking - so you mean because of that, you allow him to be doing the things he is doing? Not sure did the teacher talk to him again in the bus when Std D cool down, I hope so.

Personally being a teacher to many different groups of students … the one thing I can’t accept the most is disrespect, be it towards parents, grandparents or teachers.

Back in kindergarten, if any of my angels were to show disrespect to any teachers, he/she will receive long one-to-one nagging session from Cher Lim. =p
As for JAMs, I guess is likewise … and probably for students with understanding and certain age level, there is kind of “expectation” also.

What will you do if you were his teacher?
Allow him to behave that way because he has temper problem?
Allow him to behave that way because he may whack any time?

time in LSK...

Moments of…
Sharing & Sowing
Waiting & Watering
Teaching & Touching
Listening & Loving
Running & Soaring
Praising & Pointing

back in LSK...

After all the fun and holidaying … was back to school for two days for the last preparation/meeting before school reopens.

Officially, the staff were required to go back for one day but most of them turned up for two days!
* amazed at their working attitude *
Is so different from my previous kindergartens … then we were like can don’t report to school, we don’t. =p

It was a busy two days - especially the 2nd day where I almost stay till 7pm again!
That day I was pretty upset actually, the feeling of “really need to go but cannot go” was terrible!

From my past experience in kindergarten, usually the preparation days will always be very busy and teachers will treasure every moment to do up classroom etc but not so in LSK.
From like 9am+ to 12pm+ we had worship/praying/sharing session.
Then after lunch was short sharing/praying here and there before we went into admin. It was already 3pm+ when we were released to do our own stuff.

Two feelings after the principal shared … CHALLENGED + PRESSURE
A part of me is really looking forward to my journey in LSK, a total different environment, culture and working habit from all my previous kindergartens BUT on the other part of me, I am actually quite fxxxfxx - never had this kind of feel when I start anew at previous kindergartens.

Dear God, please enlarge my capacity! I want to be able to live up to standard of LSK!
Give me the wisdom, the creativity, the boldness, the favor of man as I start my adventure in LSK. Thank you God!

2009's LaSt Cg

27 Dec - Jm1Jm2 back to school
Our belated Christmas celebration cum Thanksgiving.

As shared during the “1 minute moment” - I’m just proud being a member of Jm1Jm2, is definitely a privilege to be in a ministry cg.

I guess one “tough moment” of my 2009 will be during my diploma period, the pressure I have from course + work + health etc. I really thank God for every single one who have cheered me on.

Special thanks to…
Lily - Thank you for the space you gave when I asked for break, for requesting the rest not to “disturb” me. Thank you for the card you mailed over! You don’t know how important the card was during the period.

Joli - Thank you for just being there! Your constant smses, your regular JIAYOUs and help offered really made me feel very loved and that I‘m not alone!

Santhi - Thank you for that fellowship on 25/3/09! You wont believe this - then and then despite the busyness, I was badly in need for fellowship and God sent you!

Adiel - Thank you for your smses and regards!
Rick - Thank you for your calls, your regular regards & your prayers!

And even when my course ended, on my graduation day … thank you ALL for making it so special and memorable for me!
Thank you Jinzhi & Rick for being there!
Thank you Lily & Santhi for the gifts!
Thank you ALL for the wishes and celebration!

All in all, Yanni want to thank everyone in Jm1Jm2 for their friendship and love! *hug*

Not forgetting…

Jinzhi, Lizhen & May - More than just cg member, thank you for being my great friends! You three are the ones I know I can run to when I need help or fellowship or even jokes?

Melvin & Albert - More than just being a “faithful readers” to my blog, thank you guys for the concern you shown when you “discern” something not right from my blog.

ChRiStMaS rOCk

21 Dec to 23 Dec - Rehearsals @ JW, worked together with Adiel & Ricando for the Fashion Show. Woo… check out our cool models!

22 Dec - Outreaches @ 3 homes … Sunlove, Surya, Mindsville
.
Though was last minute but thank God for the opportunity to lead games and to act.
Quite disappointed with my performance @ games actually … could have been better.

Games time!!!

Drama!!!

24 Dec - CHC Christmas @ Expo

Awesome service! =) Thank God I managed to get in the main hall.

25 Dec - JAMs Christmas Rock

Thank God for the 26 students & 2 caregivers on board W5 with 0 ama!
Really thank God for everyone … it been quite amazing! Instead of me calling up the backsliders, the backsliders actually called me ONE by ONE (not just one or two, to be exact, more than 5) to say they want to come and they kept their word and came!

26 Dec - Farewell~~ Last svc of 2009. Tangible presence of God.
