I was cordially invited to my ex-kindergarten's Graduation Concert yesterday. Their 2008's graduands are actually the last batch of K1 I taught last year before I left the school.

the class who always made me very “fearful” of entering ... graduated

It was a pleasant night to see the grown-up and changed (physically) children in their graduation gown and to see them put up great performances. It was also a time of catching up with few ex-student's parents.

One of them, my “godson's” aunties, they told me that the star sticker I once gave to “godson” is still on their fridge as “godson” instructed them not to throw away because it is from Teacher Yanni. =) ~super kandong

Some thoughts of mine this week...

I'm blessed with weeks of FREEEEEEEEEE rides on buses & trains.

For the very first time ... I'm blessed this way – Boss J blessed me with $xx top up to my ezlink card. Now whenever I tap on board, I feel like a rich passenger! Haha!

L.O.V.E

Recently God added to w5 a very interesting & “challenging” student, ST. I ever shared about her in one of my blogs. As much as ST's family wants her to come to JAMs, ST just can't as she tends to OVER-sleep.

Praise the Lord! With God @ work + prayers + visitations = miracle! =) Last weekend was actually ST's 3^rd week @ JAMs. Every week not only was she able to wake up on time, she was also all dressed-up before our bus reach.

During 2^nd week visit to her house, before my helper and I reach their doorstep, we heard ST's loooooud cry. Throughout our stay, she didn't stop crying (she cried BEFORE we reached, DURING our stay and AFTER we left) and it seem no one in the family can/want stop/coax her.
There she was in her hot & stuffy room, sweating all over as she refused to turn on the fan, crying non-stop, with xxxx “swinging” from her nose. That “scene” was just unbearable ... to a point I made a prayer in my heart, “God! Come and bring peace to her!”
The grandma shared with us about ST's relationship with her elder sister ... felt my heart dropped. On one hand I'm “disappointed” with the elder sister's actions but on the other, I can also understand why. With her family environment, it also pretty hard on the sister.

For the 1^st & 2^nd week @ JAMs, it was a “challenge” to workers who was in contact with her & also myself. Her “style” - when service went for 30mins, she will cry, cry and cry. Trust me, she REALLLLLLLY cry! As told, ST cannot stay @ a place for more than half an hour, once time up, she will cry and want to go home. Not just in church, when ST @ her relative's house also same “style”.

Last weekend @ JAMs - service went on for 20mins, 23mins, 26mins, 29mins ... I went to her @ 30mins ... she was =) -ing. *thank God* It was during praise, though she didnt stand to sing but saw her very engrossed with the “happenings” on stage. Guess what, she didn't just pull through 30mins, she actually pull through the ENTIRE service and without tears. She was pretty happy during dismissal too, only asking for milo! Haha!

Trust me ... ... ... I'm soooooooooo happie! =)
Prayers works!
Earlier on our way to church, we pray for ST as a bus that God will give her the peace and she will not cry during service.

Through all the interactions I had with ST and her family, the visitations, the “stories” heard... one line of a song came alive to me:
“show me how to love like You have love me”

Is always so easy to love the lovable but not the unlovable.

w5 TeStMoNiEs

1. prayer ANSWERED
Usually along our way to church, I will pray with my students in the bus. Beside praying for service, I will ask them whether they have any prayer needs so we can pray together. This particular student, L who been out of job quite some time said she just had a job interview. As a bus, we prayed for her!
Hours later @ lunch, she came to me happily and said the manager called her to collect the uniform the next day!
Wow! The POWER of PRAYER! =) I took this opportunity to challenge her & friends to keep praying & trusting God.

2. protection
Last weekend we were all waiting @ church lobby before going hall. Everything was ok until one of my young student decided to have a 100m dash towards road with busy traffic! The police on duty saw but guess they weren't as fast as my helper who immediately ran after him and thank God., he caught him just on time! Cant and dont want to imagine what if ...... Just want thank God for His constant protection over students.

3. new contact
Few months back, one of JAMs workers.passed me this new contact, ST. I called & visited but she just can't make it for JAMs - not don't want to come but cant come as she has quite a bad habit of “over-ZZzzzzZZ”. Without proper discipline & parents' support, she is left to do whatever she wants and likes. The “hightest record” she slept all the way from day 1 night to day 2's 7pm plus. Wah! So JAMs service being in the morning, she simply just cant "crucify her flesh". Hee! Even once I called her for big day in the late afternoon, she still sleeping! *flipped*
I nearly give up in reaching out to her but last week decided to give another “shot” with my new helper K. As I was preparing my helper by decribing more about ST, he told me that family is related to him. Im @@!
Last Sunday when I called in the morning, the grandma told me ST is awake! And she agreed that I come pick her to church! Praise God! Tell you... I was soooooooo happy!
The power of K? The power of cousin-hood? Haha!
All in all... is miracle! Is the power of God! The power of visitation!

Amen! For continually 2wks during visitation, I met new IDs (Intellectually Disabled)! Weeks after weeks as spent hours in the west for visitation, I seldom meet new IDs. At one particular "season", I had the desire to want see new contacts for my area. I pray before I visit, not just for quality time @ student's place but also to “spot” new contacts.

1st particular week – I alighted from train, felt rather sleepy ... just when I spotted someone (by the way she dressed & walked) and immediately I was awake and went after her. Oh no! She boarded the bus before I can talk to her. I decided to board the bus too. A while later, I alighted with her where I get to talk to her and pass her the flyer.

2^nd particular week – I pray before visitation & ASKED God for new contacts. I was on train's cabin A when I decided to change to cabin B. A “unique conversation” between a boy & a girl caught my attention and one look, “Oh my! 2 IDs!” Shortly later, the girl who is a Malay alighted and left the boy with mum who alighted @ Bbatok (me too!)
I approached and later I knew actually he is already in my contact list, just that I always cant reach the mum by phone or at home so thank God for this opportunity.

=) though both IDs didnt agreed to come church STILL, I was not discouraged as I'm just overwhelmed by the works of God's hands. “you have not because you ask not”

Few weeks later's visitation (recently) – I pray as I set off for visitation. I was crossing the roa when I saw a “potential contact” with mum & sister. For one moment, I actually hestiated to approach but just when I was reminded immediately, “You ask God for contacts right?!” Ooops!

All in all, just AWESOME! To see new IDs & having the courage to approach despite running risk of being rejected. Really must have thick-skinned & thin-heart.
But the most of all still the fact that I met IDs during visitation!
Now I need to make specific prayers ... not just to see contacts but for contacts whose heart are opened. Praise the Lord!

JAMs’ National Day Celeb 2007 aka Treasure Island was a success … Praise the Lord! =)

Once again, I was given the privilege to lead games for big day and this time with new partner, Cher Eena. It was great working with her – we planned/discussed, searched prizes/materials, done up props together … no longer “one-man-show”, great to have someone to share the “load”. =)
We “divided” work equally (actually seem Cher Eena have more … ooops!) to bring home to do/touch up, is really team effort. This time our games props not just wanted to be BIG but also MANY … all mass productions: 30 small diamonds, 10 big diamonds, 30 gold bars, xx necklances, yy bracelets, 4 treasure chests, zz treasures bags as gifts etc.
Thank God for the helpSSSssss we received! Special thanks to Huimin, Szeming, Simon, Ryan, Hensa, Jinzhi, Elis, Yvonne, Rina & May! =)

Earlier before we started our props, I was discussing with Eena about what we want to make for each game. A point of time I just can’t really visualize the outcome or even doubt whether can it really be created. BUT after the 1^st day of props-making, I’m just AMAZED & excited! Indeed ALL things are POSSIBLE! =)

After going-through our lines many times, Cher Eena aka Goldie and I aka Captain went up on stage and gave our best shot … ps: by “faith” too as we were dressed up in costume (which we took 4hrs to pick) so we ought to always keep in mind, “be Goldie! Not Cher Eena!” “be Captain! Not Cher Yanni!”. Haha! We received good feedbacks after- everything was smooth: the instructions, from game to game, the gifts-giving, order on stage etc … thank God for sharp crews too & good coordination!

* During the week of preparation, almost everyday was packed with activities so seem like in my mind, there are many things to take note, to be done etc. One night I was doing my QT and I just felt like going to God to pour out and ask God to help me with the tasksss. Just when I felt God telling me, “Needn’t tell me anything. I want to hear you tell me that you love Me!”. Despite the "urge" to pray for my needs, I decided to obey and not to worry and take the time to tell Him I love Him! After that I felt His peace & assurance! Seek first His kingdom & His righteousness! All things work together for GOOD for those who love God. =)

Hmmm … this whole week had not been a happy week for Yanni.
She is down physically, on mc for 2days … "defeated" by children in school and also due to the lack of rest– just sooooooo tired.
She is also down emotionally … guess is those “bad days” of Yanni.

=) God is the strength of Yanni's heart.

No matter what, Yanni always have someONE who will never, never ever leave nor forsake her! He is always there for her! He is none other than Jesus!

=) No worry ya ... Yanni is fine now!

Few weeks back I celebrated my birthday! =)
So scary, times realllllllllllllly files … I am already 2x years young!

Same like every years, I’m not expecting great bdae presents or surprises but rather who I will celebrate with & who actually remembers. (if you didn’t sms to wish … go REPENT! Haha!)

My celebration this year started with my JAMs kakis & Miss Lau. More than just the surprises (@ the carpark after movie, from 4 kakis then the rest came) … I am more happy to see almost all my kakis came despite their busy schedules.

to ALL my beloved kakis + Miss Lau : thanks for everything that night! Just by being there, it really made my birthday more completed. And not forgetting the big $$$ sacrifices you guys made!

Next was a simple dinner with my biblestudy group’s kakis, even my two Da-Jies was there. They actually planned a pleasant surprise– for my cake to be wheeled out on the sushi belt but miscommunication so I actually saw the manager sneaked out strangely.
Then was with my cg members … received a “I know what is it” present! So interesting, before I even open the present, I already knew what it is, exactly. You know why?! Muahahahaha! Cause I name what I wanted (they asked me to so not thick-skinned hor. hee!) and even I went to choose myself!

Lastly was with my beloved friends from e322 … seriously speaking, don’t know why, even before my bdae, I already have the idea of spending it with my close friends from e322 (maybe miss them too much. Heehee!). I was with some of them @ Changi Airport for a simple dinner. Appreciated their thoughts & efforts. Not forgetting the blessings Miss Lau, Yajing & Shihui gave. Thanks ladies! Thanks all!

Hmmmm… what are FRIENDS to you? Do you think FRIENDS are important? How important are FRIENDS to you? =) Treasure EVERYONE of them, dont ever take them for granted wor!

Yeah! I cleared all my pledges to God! =)

So excited to share this - When I first pledged all the amounts for the 6mths Building Fund, I was still working in PCF Kindergarten where my pay was stable so everything was ok (for the first two months) until I changed to a new kindergarten where my pay is lower, much lower. And the last 4mths was a rather a struggle.

Especially for the last 2mths it wasn't that easy ... even terrible devil came to disturb me with a thought - “is ok! no need to fulfill all. you got excuse not to fulfill. just wait for pastor to release and you be fine.”

BUT I didn’t accept that … I kept telling myself that it is a pledge I made towards God, I don't want to break it. I want to fulfill it no matter how tough it may be.

With my ‘new pay’ – half of it go into building fund then plus other commitments like hp bill, insurance premium, my daily expenses etc, I actually don’t left much but was I in lack?
The answer is … … … … NOT AT ALL!

For the last 4mths, not only was I not in lack … I even had more than enough! Really thank God for all the blessings that came along the way! Looking forward for the next opportunity that I can give to Him! God will never shortchange us when we give!

pRaYeRs WoRks

Holiday Science Camp
Together with one of my colleagues, we organized a two-days Science Camp during the first week of holiday.

Per child’s #1xx which includes breakfast, snack, lunch, transport fees, excursion to Sentosa’s Butterfly Park etc. For the 1^st time we did something like this in school, we received quite good response of 11 children. No doubt is tiring but is all worth it when the children enjoyed & benefited from the camp.

Blessings from God – our trip to Butterfly Park, my colleague & I were hesitating should we or should we not hire a tour guide (eventhough the children will get a free activity sheet but it will cost much $). In the end, we decided not and went ahead with our tour. Is so amazing, halfway through our tour, there was this tour guide who came to us and after short conversation, he offered us a short FREE guide. Haha! He even went the extra mile to get us this “special aroma thingy” to attract butterflies nearer to give the children a upclose experiences. Not only him, there was this cleaner auntie who offer us great upclose experiences too- not once, not twice but quite many times, she will opened up “cages” to let the children feel the different insects. And can you imagine … all this are FREE! =)

Another amazing about this camp – it acted as a extra income for me. Whatever we “earned” from this camp was divided equally between my colleague & I. My principal was nice, not only was she concerned whether will we earn much after all the hard works, she also rejected when we wanted to pay some to the school.

All in all … in two days, ~10hours … I earned myself $3xx. Praise God for the extra income that came just on time! =)

eNd Of ScHoOl TeRm 2

Last 2 weeks of term 2 was suuuuuuuuper busy … on top of the daily’s school works, I still need to prepare for Parent-Teacher Meeting, compile K1 & K2 worksheets, write K1 & K2 report books and prepare materials for Science Camp. All in all, thank God for His strength & grace to finish all on time!

Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM)
My prayer requests on my cg’s prayer list … 1) PTM to be a success. 2) wisdom & favor when I talk to parents.

Though talking to parents in “PTM-mode”, I had experienced it in PCF kindergarten but still I was super afraid & nervous for this PTM as new school = new parents. Towards this new kindergarten’s parents, I’m not so confident as most of them are highly-educated and can have high expectations. I don’t know what to expect for PTM.

Praise the Lord! God answered my prayers! The two Saturdays of PTM was a great success! I also received good comments from parents too! =)

cHeCk It OuT

This few days/weeks been busy, exciting & great! In the next few blog entries (go upward), you will get to see the "happening" event that took place! =)

First was dead mini mouse then was dead rabbit!!!

Participated in the “removing of dead rabbit” - my 2 colleagues very brave as they went ahead first (someone got to do the “job” before the children see).
After praying (hee! Spiritual hor?), I decided to help (thought at least can support & “jiayou” for them). Haha! It was a SCARY experience and after that, I have no appetite for breakfast.

We pushed (with a pole), we screamed … we poked, we screamed … we tried digging, we screamed! Haha! But we just can’t remove that rabbit out from the drain as no one dare to carry it and it seems the dead rabbit has somehow “stucked” so we just can’t move it into box.

Finally one of my colleagues decided to use a cardboard to “dig” the upper part of the rabbit so easier to push it into box … we screamed~~~. With her pushing and another colleague & me directing as she don’t dare to see (actually we also don’t dare but I managed to cover it’s face with a newspaper), we finally got the rabbit into box.

Haha! 1^st time encounter! Hope is the last! Haha!
Heard from my colleague this is not the worse case … they ever had dead kitten and once after the Dec holiday there was a dead rabbit which only left head as the body decomposed.

sUrPrIsE!

Last week been a loooooooooong & tiring week for me… every nights are JAMs rehearsal until past 12am. It was not easy physically but thank God for His strength that kept me going! =)

2007’s Easter Surprise been a good experience for me – not only was I once again given the opportunity to lead games, I was also given the chance to be part of the Easter production as “Ah Ma” and the challenges for me are to look like one, sound like one and also to SING! (if you ever hear me sing, you will know what I mean … haha!)
All the late nights & hard works are WORTH IT where we see 700+ of IDs came to JAMs! As for my bus W5, 25 came and among them were 2 new friends & few backsliders! Praise the Lord! =)

During the week, I went saturation with 2 of my JAMs workers.
Cant remember how many flyers I gave personally but in just one night, I received 4 calls and eventually this 4 contacts came and will be joining us again! *AMAZED*

First harvest field was @ the train station where we positioned there and met not just one or two but a GROUP of IDs! Wowow!
Second harvest field was outside a school … *shocked* … as soon as their flag-ceremony ended, we saw a “pool” of IDs and indeed “the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few”. There were just 3 of us so we just “conquered” as many as we can.

One nice incident which I will never forget – I saw this cute little girl who was running rather slowly towards the station and no matter how many times I call her, she just wont stopped to talk to me. Suddenly I shouted “L! L!”, she stopped and looked back … guess she must be shocked that I know her name and that is when I started to talk to her and pass her the flyer.
She called me the night itself and on our actual JAMs’ Easter day, I saw her! =) Praise the Lord!
ps: do you know why I know her name? discernment? Haha! Actually it was written on her big bag behind her. Haha! God is good!

NeW cHiLdReN tAlk 1

=) To begin, let me introduce you Popular Child J from my new kindergarten.
Some background about him: he is only in nursery (4yrs old) but trust me, he can be quite n_ugh_ty. Eventhough I don't teach him but I often see/hear about him. The teacher who handles his class is rather soft so he doesn’t really respect/listen to her. He is often controlled by the assistant.
Beat his friends, kick his friends, shout during assembly, scream when unnecessary, push his friends, and run non stop… you name it, he did it.

One incident few days back… (whole conversation in Chinese)
*Cher Lim in class with her K1 children*
Cher Lim: *heard loud crying & screaming from outside*
Aunt Tan: *holding sobbing Child J* Cher Lim, Child J is not listening. I want to leave him with you.
Child J: *slightly afraid of me* No! I… don’t… want…!
Cher Lim: Come! Child J, sit down here with me in my class!
Child J: *crying* Why… must… I… sit… here?
Cher Lim: Because you never listen to Aunt Tan
Child J: *crying* Yes… I… listen!
Aunt Tan: No! You never listen. *whisper to me that Child J pushed his friend*
Cher Lim: Ok! No more chance! Sit down here for 5minutes!
Child J: *cried more loudly BUT still can connect when I reason with him* Why… must… sit… here… 5minutes?
Cher Lim: Ah… if you don’t sit down now, I will make you sit here for 10minutes!
Child J: *sit unwillingly*
*Aunt Tan left my class*
Cher Lim: Child J, what happened? What did you do?
Child J: *sobbing* I… want… to… study…
Cher Lim: No… I am asking you what did you do just now?
Child J: I… want… to… go… to… class
Cher Lim: Child J, who did you pushed just now?
Child J: somebody
Cher Lim: *tried not to laugh as his expression really funny* Can you push your friend?
Child J: *sob sob* No…
Cher Lim: *talked reasonSsSssss to him*
*minutes later*
Cher Lim: Can you push your friend again?
Child J: No… cannot. *tears in his eyes*
Cher Lim: What if you push your friend again the next time?
Child J: *looked/sound serious* Die
Cher Lim: *very shocked* No! No need to die! If next time you push your friend again then you will come and sit with me until 1230pm ok?
Child J: *sob sob* Ok!

*the day went on as Child J spent his time with his class*
… just before dismissal time, he created another problem. He asked his class teacher to play his VCD but instead of watching, he disturbed his friends and when is time to switch it off, he refused by screaming & crying loudly and even attempted to snatch VCD back from his teacher violently. After minutes of “drama”, he went to his teacher but instead of saying sorry, he said “I can have sweet a not?”. The teacher didn’t reply but got him to ask the principal where he got another round of scoldings again. Super sad face was on him as he received the scoldings and even as he walk towards gate, he looked like he going to burst out crying BUT just when he stepped out, he smiled & screamed his way to the school bus. Haha! This boy ar… he can really made you love and h_t_ him! Haha!

Still remember Mr Sato, Miss Wennie & Mr Bryant – my 3 dearest angels?
Been a while since I last blog about them. Other than Bryant, the other 2 will only come JAMs once a month. These past few times when they came, they actually toned down, especially Mr Sato so they are now less “happening” for me to blog about.

During xmas- Mr Sato was not just in the mood of receiving but also giving. On the week that he came to church, he actually gave me something!

During Chinese New Year- Eventhough Mr Sato doesn’t really celebrate Chinese New Year but he knows all about the tradition of Chinese New Year. On the week that he came to church, he gave me 2 mandarin oranges & one calendar! =) Not instructed by his mum but he himself wanted to. Haha!

Cher Ni: Come! Sato, let’s go and buy coke to drink!
Mr Sato: *silence*
Cher Ryan: Come! Let’s go!
Mr Sato: *silence*
Cher Hensa: Sato! Come! Let’s go and buy chips to eat!
Mr Sato: *silence*
Chers: Come! Let’s go!
Mr Sato: *shaked his head … too engrossed with sound system*
Cher Ni: Sato……………………
Mr Sato: *ignoring ALL teachers, overly engrossed with pressing the buttons on sound system*
*minutesssssssssss later*
Mr Sato: *stood up and left with the 3 teachersss around him*
Cher Ni: Sato, after we buy drink, you cannot go back to hall ok. Today Cher Gina never comes so you cannot go to sound system. When you come next month, Cher Gina will bring the earphone for you ok.
Mr Sato: no come ar
Cher Ni: Yes! Cher Gina never comes so no earphone
Mr Sato: *no reply*

Throughout the ~1hr where service is going on, Mr Sato wasn’t in the hall or on any chair (is a MIRCALE if he can sit still for 5minutes)… Mr Sato was up and down, here and there the church, and of course being "escorted" closely by a security.

Cher Ni: Come! Sato, let’s go in café and look for Cher Simon to chit chat
Mr Sato: *walk in like VIP with 3 chers around him* SIMON ar!!!
*all teachers around burst out laughing* ps: you should hear the way he shouted
Cher Ni: Whey! Sato, Cher Simon is your friend ar!?
Mr Sato: *cheeky smile*

Thank God for the improvement! =)
Now he listens more and when we don’t allow him to do what he want (especially “working” at his favourite sound system), he don’t get angry easier. He has a “clean record” now, past few times he came, no incident of hitting/punching/biting teachers but just gentle massage on female teachers’ hands. Haha!

Still got to keep him in prayers that one day he can be totally well-tempered on his own and not so much on medication. And the most important is his “motive” in coming church will not be for sound system but for God! And hopefully his once-a-month attendance can increase!
